Editing products

Update your products individually or in bulk.

Follow these steps to find and edit a product in your Squarespace store. You can remove products from your store by hiding or deleting them.

What you can edit

You can add product images and edit basic product information from the Squarespace app. To access the full product editor, visit your site on a computer.

You can edit:

Note

In version 7.1, product URLs always include a p/ before the customizable URL slug.

Edit a product

Open a product to edit it.

Open a product from a store page:

  1. Open the Pages panel.
  2. Click a store page.
  3. Click All. (In version 7.0, all products display automatically.)
  4. Double-click a product to open the product editor.
  5. Make your changes and click Save.

You can also edit products from the Products panel. This is a better option if you have many store pages and need to find a specific product quickly. To edit products from the Products panel:

  1. Open the Products & Services panel and click Products.
  2. Use the search bar to find a product.
  3. Click a product to open it for editing.

To apply a price or sale status change to all product variants, click Apply to all.

To edit a product:

  1. Tap Commerce, then tap the Products panel.
  2. By default, all visible products appear. Above the product list, tap Visible to switch to Scheduled or Hidden products. You can also use the search field to search for a specific product.
  3. Tap a product to edit it, including images, price, and quantity.
  4. When you're done editing, tap Save or .

Tip

You can also add and edit products from each store page. 

To refresh the inventory list, swipe down in the Products panel and release. A refresh circle appears while your products are updating.

Add and edit product images

To edit images:

  1. In the product editor, click and drag images to rearrange them.
  2. Hover over an image and click the ... icon to edit the photo, add alt text, or delete the image.
  3. To add a new image, click the + icon.

Click the featured image to edit it. To edit a variant image, click a variant, then click Replace or Remove

Accessing this feature

A product's featured image and variant images don't display in the app. You can only view and edit these images on the computer.

  1. From the product details, swipe through the images at the top of the screen to view all current product images. The first image on the left is your product’s primary image.
  2. To add a new image, tap the + icon.
  3. Choose from the following options:
    • Tap Camera Roll to choose a new image from your device’s camera roll.
    • Tap Browse Files to upload a new image from other folders on your phone.
    • Tap Take a Photo to take a new photo using your device’s camera.
    • Tap Select from Library to reuse an image already uploaded to your site.
  4. To delete an image, tap and hold it until the trash can icon appears. Drag the image to the trash can.

You may need to give the app permission to access your camera or photos by tapping OK. You can also add this permission in your device’s Settings under Privacy > Photos.

Accessing this feature

The Android Squarespace app doesn't support rearranging or deleting product images. It’s also not possible to edit a product’s featured image or variant-specific images from the app.

  1. From the product details, swipe through the images at the top of the screen to view all current product images. The first image on the left is your product’s primary image.
  2. Tap and drag any image to move it to a different position.
  3. To add a new image, tap the + icon.
  4. Then choose from the following options:
    • Tap Camera to take a new photo using your device’s camera.
    • Tap Files to choose a new image from your device’s camera roll.

You may need to give the app permission to access your camera or photos by tapping Allow. You can also add this permission in your device’s Settings under Apps > Squarespace Commerce > Permissions.

Delete a product

To permanently remove a product from your store, delete it.

Before you begin, keep in mind:

  • Deleted products can’t be restored. If you think you’ll sell the product again, or if it includes information you might need later, hide it instead.
  • If you delete a product, you won't be able to export a .csv file for that specific product.
  • Deleted products still appear in analytics data.
  • You can't reuse a deleted product's URL. To use it for other products, change the product's URL before deleting it.
  • Deleting a subscription product doesn’t automatically cancel existing subscriptions to that product. You'll need to cancel a customer's subscription separately.

To delete a single product:

  1. Open the Pages panel.
  2. Click a store page.
  3. Double-click a product to open the product editor.
  4. At the top of the product editor, click the trash can icon, then click Delete.
  1. From the main menu, tap Products.
  2. Tap any product to view its details.
  3. Tap Delete or Delete product.
  4. Tap Yes to confirm.
  1. Tap More, then tap Pages, then tap the store page you want to edit.
  2. Tap any product to view its details.
  3. Tap the ... in the top-right corner, then tap Delete. There's no confirmation after tapping Delete, so ensure you're ready to delete your product. It's not possible to undo deleting products.

Delete multiple products

On a computer, you can delete multiple products at a time:

  1. Open the Pages panel.
  2. Click a store page.
  3. Press and hold Shift, and click the products you want to delete.
  4. Continue holding Shift to select multiple products.
  5. Press + Delete (Mac) or Ctrl + Delete (on a PC).
  6. Click Delete.

Hide a product

To temporarily remove or unlist a product from your store:

  1. Open the Pages panel.
  2. Click a store page.
  3. Double-click a product to open the product editor.
  4. Under Organization, click the Visibility drop-down menu and change the status from Public to Hidden.
  5. Hover over Save.
  6. Click Save draft.
  1. From the main menu, tap Products.
  2. Tap a product to select it.
  3. Tap Status.
  4. Change the product’s status from Visible to Hidden.
  5. Tap Yes to confirm.
  1. Tap More, then tap Pages, then tap the store page you want to edit.
  2. Tap a product to select it.
  3. Tap Status, then tap Hidden.
  4. Tap to confirm.

Re-list a hidden product

To re-list a hidden product, change the status from Hidden to Visible:

  1. Open the Pages panel.
  2. Click a store page.
  3. Double-click a product to open the product editor.
  4. Under Organization, click the Visibility drop-down menu and change the status from Hidden to Public.
  5. Click Save.
  1. On the Products panel, tap a product.
  2. Tap Status.
  3. Change the product’s status from Hidden to Visible.
  4. Tap Yes to confirm.
  1. Tap More, then tap Pages, then tap the store page you want to edit.
  2. Tap a product to select it.
  3. Tap Status, then tap Visible.
  4. Tap to confirm.

Schedule a product

You can schedule products to publish live on your store at a specific time.

To schedule a product:

  1. Open the Pages panel.
  2. Click a store page.
  3. Double-click a product to open the product editor. For detailed steps, visit Editing a product.
  4. Under Organization, click the Visibility drop-down menu and click Scheduled.
  5. Click the date and time when the product will be published.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click Save.
  1. Tap Products.
  2. Tap a product to open its details.
  3. Tap Status.
  4. Tap Scheduled.
  5. Select the date and time the product will become visible.
  6. Tap Edit product or the back arrow to save your changes and return to the product details.
  7. Tap Save.
  1. Tap More, then tap Pages, then tap the store page you want to edit.
  2. Tap a product to select it.
  3. Tap Status, then tap Scheduled.
  4. Select the date and time the product will become visible.
  5. Tap to confirm.

Bulk edit products

To edit some details for multiple products at once, open the Products & services panel, then click Products. Click a field to edit it. You can edit these details directly from the Products panel:

  • Fulfillment profile
  • Price and sale status
  • Stock level
  • Title
  • Visibility

To apply a price and sale status change to all variants, click Apply to all when you edit the main product.

If you're on a Basic, Core, Plus, Advanced, Business, Commerce Basic, or Commerce Advanced plan, you can bulk edit these and other product details by importing an updated products .csv file:

  1. Open the Products & Services panel and click Products.
  2. Click Export all to export your products. 
  3. Change the product details in the .csv file using an editing software, like Excel or Google Sheets, and save your changes. 
  4. Back in the Products panel, click , then click Import.
  5. Upload the updated .csv file.
  6. To prevent the import from updating stock levels to the values in the spreadsheet, uncheck Update product quantities.
  7. Review the results and correct any errors by uploading an edited .csv file.
  8. Click Close.

To edit a small group of products, select the products in the Products panel and then click Export in the bottom-right corner. When you import the new .csv file, only the products in the file will update. It's not possible to delete products via .csv import, or to update the product images.
