The Home menu

An introduction to the Home menu and the panels within it.

Last updated January 13, 2025

The Home menu is the first menu that appears in the side panel when you log into your Squarespace site. It appears to the left of your site preview.

Keep in mind:

  • The Home screen on the Squarespace app displays quick links, suggested actions, and a traffic overview.
  • Your Home menu may be organized or appear differently depending on when you signed up and what plan you're on.

Home menu basics

You can use the Home menu to access all admin areas of your site, called panels. Use these panels to find everything you need to manage and build your site.

By default, the Home menu shows links to these panels:

Note

Click the to open the Settings panel, which holds PermissionsBilling, Domains, Connected Accounts, and more. If you sell products on Squarespace, you'll also find store setup options like Payments, Shipping, and Taxes.

Find the Home menu

The Home menu is open when you log in and hidden when you're in full site preview. If you can't find the Home menu:

  • Ensure you're logged into your site.
  • Review your browser's address bar to confirm your direct login URL ends only with /config. For example, https://your-site.squarespace.com/config appears if you're on the Home menu.
  • Use our keyboard search shortcut to return to the Home menu.
  • If the site displays fullscreen, click the expand arrow to open the side panel.
  • If the side panel doesn't display the Home menu, click the Home arrow in the top-left corner of the panel.

Getting around from the Home menu

To open any panel in the Home menu, follow the example steps for popular panels below. The exact location of some panels differs depending on your site, but they all follow the same general path. The Home menu may also look different if you're on other plans, like a Parking Page or Cover Page plan.

On version 7.1 sites, click Website to choose between these panels:

On version 7.0 sites, click Website, then click Pages to open the Pages panel, or click Design to open the Design panel, where you can use site styles to change elements of your site's design, like fonts, colors, buttons, and spacing.

Sites created by Circle members won't include the setup guide.

To quickly search for a panel, press the / or ? key and type the panel name. Use this shortcut to navigate between panels without clicking through the Home menu.

For example, to open the Colors panel, press / or ? and search colors.

Customize the Home menu

You can customize the Home menu for your site by hiding and rearranging some menu links. This is useful if your site doesn't use a certain feature, or if you want to prioritize some features over others in your site management.

To edit the Home menu:

  1. Click the Customize Sidebar icon at the bottom of the Home menu.
  2. To hide or show a link, click the toggle beside the link.
  3. To rearrange a link, click and hold the ::: icon beside the link, then drag it up or down in the list.
  4. After making your changes, click X.

The links you can hide or rearrange are:

  • Products & Services
  • Content & Memberships
  • Scheduling
  • Donations
  • Invoicing

Note

Only owners and contributors with administrator permissions can edit the Home menu, but any changes display for all contributors. It's not possible to have different Home menus for different contributors. Other contributors should contact an owner or administrator if any necessary links aren't appearing in the Home menu, but even when links are hidden, they can still be accessed by searching.

Home menus on other plans

Depending on your subscriptions, your Home menu may have different options.

Parking page

If you started with a Squarespace domain, it may appear on a parking page. Parking pages have a unique Home menu.
