Building a Layout Page

Layout Pages are flexible, basic pages you can use when you want to start with a blank space or add content to a starter layout for a specific purpose.

With Layout Pages, you'll use drag-and-drop blocks to create a custom layout of text, images, forms, and more common page features. Layout pages are a great choice for contact pages, about pages, and—for many sites—the majority of your content.

Add pages with starter layouts (computer only)

Starter layouts are professional page designs with prearranged placeholder blocks. You can add your own content to the blocks, delete them, and add more blocks to the page to create a custom look and feel.

Starter layouts use these placeholder blocks:

Add new blocks (optional)

If you like a starter layout’s format but need to add more content, customize the page by adding new blocks, then dragging and dropping them to the right position.

Adding more blocks to a starter layout doesn’t “break” the page. Think of layouts as your starting point and blocks as tools to further customize your page. If you’re hesitant to change a starter layout, you can duplicate the page, make it private, then use that as a test page.

For example, If you start with the Features 1 layout, which includes three columns of images and text, you might want to add one more column to the right. To do this, use our tips for moving blocks and creating columns and rows to add another column of blocks. Use guidelines to ensure that the first block matches the full height of the previous column, then add more blocks beneath it. For best results, drag the block directly from the block menu to where you need it on the page before customizing each block.
