Automatic subscription renewals

Squarespace subscriptions are set to automatically renew annually or monthly for your convenience and to avoid any interruption of service. This guide covers how automatic renewal works, how to enable or disable Auto-renew, and when your subscription will renew.

Which subscriptions automatically renew

These subscriptions automatically renew on their own billing cycles, unless you cancel the renewal. Click the links to learn more:

Mobile Start plans and Getty Image licenses are one-time purchases and don't auto-renew.

Help and support during the COVID-19 pandemic: We’re doing everything we can to help our customers during these challenging times. If you need financial support for a renewal payment, submit a request using this form. We’ll look into options for you as quickly as possible.

How you'll be charged

We'll charge the billing card on file for your site. Always keep your billing information updated to avoid billing failures for these subscriptions and to ensure we charge the correct card. We can't reprocess a completed charge on a different card.

We'll send an email reminder 15 days before annual website subscriptions renew so you'll have time to make any changes.

Our system can charge some expired cards

If your card expired, but your bank account hasn't changed, we can still collect payment as long as the associated account is still active. This is helps keep your subscription active without you needing to take any action.

If you don't want to charge the expired card's account, update your site with a new credit card

What happens if auto-renew is disabled

If auto-renew is disabled:

  • Your subscription will expire on the next payment date.
  • You can also cancel a subscription to end it immediately.

Enable or disable auto-renew

We recommend editing this setting at least one day before your next payment date:

  1. In the Home Menu, click Settings, click Billing & Account, then click Billing.
  2. Under Subscriptions, select the subscription to review: Website/Commerce, G Suite, or Domains.
Tip: For domains, click Domains, then click the domain name.
  1. At the bottom of the panel, check or uncheck Auto-Renew.

Domains linked to parking pages

If your Squarespace Domain isn't linked to an active website, it might be hosted on a parking page. Parking pages are free, but your Squarespace Domain renews automatically unless you disable auto-renew.

To manage a domain linked to a parking page:

  1. Go to the Domains section of your Squarespace Account Dashboard.
  2. Click the domain name you want to cancel.
  3. Scroll down and uncheck Auto-Renew.
