Updating your billing information

Change your payment method in the Billing panel to continue to pay for your Squarespace subscription.

Last updated February 7, 2025

You can change the payment method you use to pay for Squarespace at any time. The steps in this guide apply to all Squarespace subscriptions, including domains, websites, and Google Workspace.

Each Squarespace website is independent and has its own payment method on file. We charge that same payment method for all subscriptions associated with a site except for connected Squarespace domains, which have billing and permission settings that remain separate from the website. If you manage multiple sites and need to update their billing information, repeat the steps in this guide for each site.

Squarespace-managed domains that are connected to a site will have their own payment methods on file. Domains that are grouped share payment methods.

Tip

If you can’t access the billing information for a domain that recently migrated from Google, you likely need to log into Squarespace with a different email address. If you don’t know which email address your Squarespace-managed domain is linked to, follow our account recovery steps for that custom domain.

Before you begin

When changing your payment method, keep in mind:

  • You can use these accepted payment methods for Squarespace billing.
  • All Squarespace subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period using the payment method information on file, unless you disable auto-renew.
  • If you update your payment method before your next renewal date, we’ll use the updated billing information for the next payment.
  • Your payment may be subject to US sales tax, VAT, or GST. We use your billing address to determine the appropriate tax rate.
  • If you have more than one Squarespace domain, your domain may be grouped, meaning the payment information of your domains are linked. Changing the payment information of one domain affects all domains in the group. If your domains are grouped, you'll see a message letting you know when updating the payment information of a domain. To manage the payment information of a domain separately, ungroup your domain.

Update your payment method

To either update your current payment method’s billing information, or to choose a new payment method:

  1. If you’re updating the payment method for a site subscription, open the Payment information panel. If you’re updating the payment method for a domain that’s not associated with a site, click the domain in your Domains dashboard, then click Billing.
  2. Enter and save your billing address.
  3. Either select the new payment method you’d like to use (Credit or Debit CardSEPA Direct Debit, or PayPal), or if you’re not changing your payment method, click the existing information you want to change. For example, to change a card number, click the current card number and enter a new one.
  4. Complete all fields. If you want your company name to appear on the invoice, enter it in the Cardholder name field. All future invoices will show the cardholder name. If PayPal is your payment method, you can't edit the cardholder name field. We pull your billing information from your PayPal account.
  5. Check for errors to avoid declined payments, then click Save.
  6. If your bank is located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you may need to authorize charges on a new card.

Note

If you purchased your Squarespace domain through a reseller, like Google Workspace or another third-party reseller, you'll need to manage your domain's billing information through the account you have with your reseller. Adding payment information to the Billing panel of your domain details page won't update the payment information for your resold domain. If you're not sure if you have a resold domain, open your domains dashboard and click your domain. If you have a resold domain, the reseller's name appears under the domain's expiration date.

Currency and payment method limitations

When updating your billing information, please keep the following in mind:

  • PayPal isn’t available for US residents or the following currencies: Brazilian real (R$), Columbian peso (Col$), Indonesian rupiah (Rp), Mexican peso (Mex$), Malaysian ringgit (RM), New Zealand dollar (NZ$), South African rand (R).
  • SEPA is only available if you pay with € EUR (euro). You’ll also need to reside in, and use a bank located in the SEPA zone. To learn more, visit Using SEPA to pay for your Squarespace subscription.

Removing a payment method from your account

It's not possible to remove a payment method on file yourself without replacing it with a new one, but we may be able to remove it for you. To request that we remove billing information from a site, contact us.
