Automatic subscription renewals

Enable or disable automatic payments for your Squarespace subscription.

Last updated December 14, 2024

Squarespace subscriptions automatically renew for your convenience and to avoid any interruption of service. This guide covers how automatic renewal works, how to enable or disable auto-renew, and where to locate your renewal payment date.

Tip

All Squarespace subscriptions are independent, and have their own billing cycle and invoice. To learn more, visit Checking your billing subscriptions.

Which subscriptions automatically renew

These subscriptions automatically renew on their own billing cycles, unless you cancel the renewal. Click the links to learn more:

Mobile Start plans and Getty Image licenses are one-time purchases and don't auto-renew.

How you'll be charged

We'll charge the payment method on file for your site. Always keep your billing information updated to avoid billing failures and to ensure we charge the correct card. If your card on file has expired, we can still collect payment. If the wrong card was charged, we can't reprocess the charge on a different card.

You'll receive an email reminder 15 days before annual website subscriptions renew so you'll have time to make any changes, unless you use SEPA. To learn more, review the section below.

SEPA charges

If you use SEPA as your payment method, you'll receive an email renewal reminder when we charge the renewal payment. If auto-renew is disabled, we send an expiration reminder email instead.

What happens if auto-renew is disabled

If auto-renew is disabled, your subscription will expire on the next payment date. If you'd rather end your subscription immediately, you can cancel it at any time.

Enable or disable auto-renew

We recommend editing this setting at least one day before your next payment date:

  1. Open the Billing panel.
  2. Under Subscriptions, click the subscription to review.

Tip

To manage a domain subscription, open your domains dashboard, then click the domain you'd like to adjust. For more details specific to domains, visit Cancelling a Squarespace domain.

  1. Switch the Renew automatically toggle off.

Parked domains

If your Squarespace domain isn't linked to an active website, it might be parked on a parking page. Parking pages are free, but your Squarespace domain renews automatically unless you disable auto-renew.

To manage a parked domain:

  1. Open your domains dashboard.
  2. Click the domain name you want to cancel.
  3. Switch the Auto-renew toggle off. If your domain has a Reseller: Google message instead of an auto-renew toggle, you'll enable or disable auto-renew through your Google Workspace Admin console instead.

Find your renewal payment dates

Follow these steps to find the next renewal date for a subscription.

Website

  1. Open the Billing panel.
  2. Under Subscriptions, click Website or Store, depending on the billing plan.

The Payment due date is your next renewal date.

Domain

If your domain shares its billing information with a Squarespace website:

  1. Open the Billing panel.
  2. Under Subscriptions, click Domains, then click the domain name.

If your domain doesn't share its billing information with a Squarespace website:

  1. Open your domains dashboard.
  2. Click the domain to open its domain details page.
  3. Your domain's renewal date appears in the Renews on section.
