As COVID-19 continues to impact people and businesses of all sizes in unprecedented ways, we're making every effort to support our customers however we can.
With Squarespace, you have tools at your disposal to expand your online presence and make changes to your site when you can't connect with customers in person.
Use this guide to find resources if your business has been impacted by the pandemic. If you don’t find the information you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to contact us. These are stressful and uncertain times, and we’re here to help.
Add announcements and pop-ups for important updates
To place a prominent message with important updates at the top of your site, add an announcement bar. This is a Premium feature, already available to you if you're on a Business or Commerce plan. We're enabling it by request for anyone on the Personal plan who needs it.
If you're on the Business and Commerce plans, you can also use a promotional pop-up to display a message.
Add an online store with Squarespace Commerce
With Squarespace, you can add an online store to any website on the Business plan and higher. The Commerce platform is great for selling physical products, digital products, or services.
Follow these steps to get started with selling online:
- Connect a payment processor.
- Set up tax rules, if applicable to your business.
- Set up shipping options, which can include local pickup or delivery.
- Add products to a Store Page.
- After receiving orders, you can fulfill them on a computer or on the Commerce App.
To learn more about getting started with Commerce:
Sell gift cards
Gift cards have become important to small businesses and restaurants that can’t make in-person sales at this time. Gift cards are available for all plans with Commerce features. You can also redeem gift cards in person, so customers can support your business now and spend their gift cards in your store later.
Deliver orders from your store
To set up delivery for a restaurant or bar site, use our ChowNow integration.
If you use a different service — like DoorDash, Caviar, or Seamless — you can add a navigation menu link highlighting your delivery option on every page of your site.
Add a curbside pickup option
Add a curbside pickup option so customers can collect their orders without entering your store. To do this, add a flat rate shipping option called Curbside pickup. To learn more, visit In-store pickup.
Pause subscription renewals for your customers
If you sell subscription products, you can delay subscription renewals for your customers to help them during these difficult times.
Ask for donations
To encourage donations, you can add Donation Blocks on Business and Commerce plans. If you’re using a different service to collect donations, you can add a text link or Button Block that links to your preferred service.
Use Email Campaigns to communicate
To keep your customers updated with new information, use Email Campaigns. You can build mailing lists, create campaigns that match your site’s branding, and send email blasts to your audience.
Use Tock to manage reservations, orders, tables, and events
If you run a business in the hospitality industry, we recommend using Tock, our all-in-one management system for reservations, orders, tables, and events. To learn more, visit Tock's website.
