Adding basic product variants

Product variants are variations of a product with different attributes like size or color. Variants let customers choose between product options using drop-down menus.

You can create variants for new and existing products. Each variant has its own SKU. A single product can have up to 100 variants.

For help adding products to your store, visit Adding products to your store.

Note: For products with multiple options, visit Adding complex product variants.
Note: Only Physical and Service products support variants.

Variants and images

You can add multiple images to a product, but selecting a variant won't automatically change the image displayed. For example, if a customer selects a red shirt when the default product image is a blue shirt, the product image won't automatically switch to a red shirt.

Step 1 - Open the product

In the Home Menu, click Pages. Click a Products Page. Double-click a product to open the Product Editor. For detailed steps, visit Editing a product.

Step 2 - Add product options

In the Product Editor, click the Pricing & Variants tab.

The product needs at least one unique attribute such as size, color, or style.

Click the + button to add a new product option.

Enter the Option Name and then click Save Option

Step 3 - Add product variants

Product variants can include different pricing, sale, and stock values.

Click the + button below the SKU field to add new product variants. This copies the previous variant for you to edit.

You can edit the product options for each variant.

You can edit the SKUPricing, Stock, Weight, and Dimensions of a variant in addition to any new product options you've created.

Note: Dimensions are used to calculate the best container for the carrier-calculated via USPS shipping option.

Organizing products with multiple options

You can add multiple options to variants (for example, size and color). Each combination of options must be set manually. For help with this, visit Adding complex product variants.

Step 4 - Organizing product variants

After creating product variants, you can reorder them by dragging rows up or down within the list.

Step 5 - Save the product

After adding the desired options and variants, click Save.

Step 6 - Delete a variant (optional)

To remove a variant, return to the Pricing & Variants tab of a product and click the trash can icon next to the variant.
