Secondary and footer navigation in version 7.0

Create additional navigation menus in certain version 7.0 templates.

Last updated December 12, 2024

Some templates in version 7.0 include secondary or footer navigation menus in addition to main navigation. Generally, you can use these menus to link to pages you don't want to feature as prominently, like terms of service, return policies, or FAQ. This helps you create a logical structure and prevents overcrowding one menu with too many options.

Build these menus in the pages panel. Pages added to these sections appear as navigation links on your site, but the display varies by template. Usually, they appear near the bottom.

Accessing this feature

Secondary and footer navigation menus are only available in version 7.0. In version 7.1, you can use text links to create additional navigation menus manually.

Display by template

Templates usually only have one of these menus, but a few templates can have both.

  • Secondary navigation generally displays near the footer or main navigation in the header.
  • Footer navigation always displays in the site footer, but its position depends on the template.

These template families include secondary navigation, footer navigation, or both. Visit any family's template guide for more help.

How switching templates affects navigation

When you switch to a new template, all pages, including those in secondary or footer navigation, move to the Not linked section.

To move the pages to navigation menus again, click and drag them to your new template’s main, secondary, or footer navigation sections.
