Step 1 - Open the contributor email
When someone invites you as a contributor, you'll receive an email invitation with the subject line "Contributor Invitation from [Inviter Name]." Open the email and click Accept Invitation.
A message will display the email address of the account that invited you and the name of the site. Click Accept.
Step 2 - Log in or sign up
Log in or sign up using the email address you want to use to manage the site.
Tip: To switch between the existing login and account creation screens, click Create Squarespace Account or Use an existing account.
If you already have a Squarespace account
If you already have a Squarespace account, you'll be prompted to log in. Enter your account email address and password, or click Facebook, Google, or Twitter if you signed up using a social account. If you enabled two-factor authentication, you may be prompted to enter an authentication code.
If your device is currently logged into an account other than the one that received the invitation, you'll see a screen like the one pictured below.
- To accept the invitation using the account you're currently logged into, click Continue.
- To accept the invitation using a different account, click Someone else.
If you don't have a Squarespace account
If you don't have a Squarespace account, sign up. When you create an account, you’ll pick your login information. You can either:
- Use an email address and password to log in. We recommend using an email address you can easily access.
- Use your Facebook, Google, or Twitter account to save time and log in with one click. You’ll be prompted to log into that account and make the connection to Squarespace.
Note: If you try to sign up with a social account and see an error that says Email address required, ensure you have an email address on file for that social account.
"This email address was not found"
This message appears when the email address entered isn't part of our system. If you don't have a Squarespace account already, click Create Account.
If you have a Squarespace account, check the email address for typos or errors. For more help, visit Changing or recovering your account email address.
This message appears when the password doesn't match our system's record for the email address. If you don't have a Squarespace account already, click Create Squarespace Account.
If you have a Squarespace account, carefully reenter the password to avoid typos or errors. For more help, visit Resetting your Squarespace password.
"Change login method (You usually log in using…)"
Each account is set to log in with an email address and password, or through Facebook, Google, or Twitter. If you receive this error message, you attempted to log in using the incorrect method. Try logging in the same way you signed up. You can also change how you log into Squarespace.
"Invalid Invitation Code"
If the invitation has already been accepted, or if the site owner cancelled the invitation, this message will appear. Contact the site owner and ask them to remove and resend the invitation.
"No such account" or "Account removed"
If the Squarespace site you've been invited to has been deleted or its URL has changed, this message will appear. Contact the site owner to have them remove and resend the invitation.
I didn't receive an email invite
If you didn't receive the invitation email, check your spam folder or search your email for "firstname.lastname@example.org." If you still aren't receiving the email, ask the site owner to manually send you the invitation link.
