Changing how you log into Squarespace

Use a different login option to access your site.

Last updated January 13, 2025

There are two ways you can log into your Squarespace account:

  1. Enter an email address and password.
  2. Use a social account login such as Apple, Facebook, or Google.

This guide covers how to switch between these login methods, and between different social account logins. To avoid confusion, you should change how you log into Squarespace only when necessary.

To update the email address you use to log in, visit Changing your account email address.

Tip

If you're on an Enterprise plan, you can also log in with Okta.

Switch from email login to social login

To switch from email and password login to social login:

  1. On the login page, click the social account you want to log in with.
  2. Enter your credentials for the account. If you're switching to an Apple login, select Share my email.

  4. Click Use [account].
  5. You’ll receive a verification email. Click the link in the email.

Error message: Account doesn't exist

This error generally occurs if you try to switch your login method to a social account under an email that isn’t associated with a Squarespace account. However, if you see this when switching to an Apple login, follow these steps to resolve:

  • If you select Hide my email in your Apple ID account settings, then Apple can't share the email address for your Apple ID. As a result, we can't verify if the email addresses match. To resolve this, try the steps above again, ensuring you select Share my email in the Apple settings. To learn more, visit Apple's documentation.
  • If you click Create on the error message and select Hide my email, a new Squarespace account is created with an anonymous email generated by Apple. As a result, you can't switch from your existing Squarespace account to an Apple login. To resolve this, visit Apple's documentation and follow their steps to stop using your Apple ID with Squarespace. Then, follow the steps above again, ensuring you select Share my email in Apple's settings.

Tip

After you change from a social login to email login, you can also change your account email address if needed.

If you’re logged out

  1. Go to the login page.
  2. Click Can't log in?
  3. Enter the email address linked to your social account.

Switch between social login accounts

To switch between different social accounts under the same email:

  1. On the login page, click the social account you want to switch to.

  3. Click Use [account].
  4. You’ll receive a verification email. Click the link in the email.

Switch to a social login with a different email address

Because your Squarespace account email needs to match the social account email, the above steps won't work when trying to switch to a social login that uses a different email. To do this:

  1. Switch from your current social login back to an email login.
  2. Update your account email to the email address matching the social account you want to switch to.
  3. Switch from an email login to the social login you want.
