What if my template doesn't have built-in icons?

If your template doesn’t have built-in social icons, use the Social Links Block. It’s common to place the Social Links Block in the footer or header.

For example, Bedford doesn't have built-in social icons, but you can add them to your site by placing a Social Links Block in the footer.

Some templates, like Galapagos, have removable Social Links Blocks as part of their demo content. When you connect a social account, the icons will appear in the the Social Links Block if you haven't removed the block.

Add social icons

Repeat these steps for each social icon you want to add to your site.

Step 1 - Connect an account

In the Home Menu, click Settings, and then click Connected Accounts.

Click Connect Account.

In the Connected Accounts menu, select the account to add.

Step 2 - Allow permission

Certain services require that you log in and allow Squarespace to access your information. Follow the steps that appear to verify your account. Not all services require this step.

Step 3 - Complete the information

These steps are different for each social account. For specific instructions, visit the guides below

For most accounts:

  1. In the Link Title box, enter text to display when hovering over the social icon. (For example, Twitter or Follow me @Yourname.)
  2. Find your profile’s URL (for example, your Yelp page’s URL), and paste it in the URL box.
  3. The account will appear in the Connected Accounts list.

Are my icons built-in?

To figure out if social icons displaying on your site are built-in or a Social Links Block, log into your site and hover over the block.

Built-in social icons show a Connected Accounts annotation:

If an annotation doesn't appear, it's probably a Social Links Block. You can confirm this by opening the page or post editor, then hovering over the links. A Social Links annotation appears:
