Control how you ship each product using custom profiles to offer your customers specific shipping, pickup, and delivery options.

Create fulfillment profiles to streamline your shipping process by offering specific shipping, pickup, or delivery options for different products. For example, if you have a product that’s only available for local pickup, you’ll create and apply a fulfillment profile specifically for the product. This way, only local pickup will appear for customers to choose at checkout. This guide is a good next step after you've set up basic shipping options and zones in your online store. Create a fulfillment profile

To create a fulfillment profile with your fulfillment options:

1. Open the Products panel and click Fulfillment profiles.
2. Click Add custom profile.
3. Enter the fulfillment profile name, like local delivery.
4. Select the shipping, pickup, and delivery options you want to offer for the fulfillment profile.
5. Click Save.

You can have up to 49 fulfillment profiles. The default fulfillment profile shows all shipping options to eligible customers.

Assign a fulfillment profile to a product

After you create a fulfillment profile, you’ll need to assign it to a product.

From the product editor:

1. Click Fulfillment.
2. Click the dropdown menu beneath Profiles, and select a fulfillment profile.

Note: Customers are limited to choosing from these options for this product at checkout.

  3. Click Save.

A product can only have one fulfillment profile. It's not possible to assign individual fulfillment profiles to product variants. 

If you have an active free shipping discount, it applies to all eligible orders regardless of the fulfillment profile. The shipping zones you create may also limit the options customers have at checkout.

Edit or delete a fulfillment profile

To edit or delete a fulfillment profile:

1. Open the Products panel and click Fulfillment profiles.
2. Click the … icon beside the option.
3. Click Edit to change the profile name or assign different shipping options to it.
4. To remove the option, click Delete, then Delete to confirm.

When you delete a fulfillment profile, any products that were assigned to it will be reassigned to the default fulfillment profile.

Purchases with multiple fulfillment profiles

When a customer checks out with products that have different fulfillment profiles, their purchase splits into separate orders on your end. This means if a customer buys a print that can be locally delivered and a mug that needs to be shipped, separate shipping options display for each item at checkout. They’ll pay for everything in one transaction, but the single purchase creates multiple orders for you to fulfill in the Orders panel. You’ll need to fulfill each of these orders separately. Customers receive a separate order confirmation email for each of the split orders.

Tip: Your average order value (AOV) in your sales analytics may decrease because the revenue from a single purchase is divided across multiple orders.

Limit shipping destinations for some products

If you want to offer global shipping, but not for all products, use a combination of fulfillment profiles and shipping zones to limit where you ship individual products:

1. Create a shipping option and add each destination where you'll ship the product in the shipping zones section, excluding the areas where you won't ship the product.
2. Create a fulfillment profile and assign the shipping option to it.
3. Assign the fulfillment profile to the product you want to restrict.

Note: If you’re intending to limit shipping destinations, don’t include a shipping option for The rest of the world in a fulfillment profile. Adding this option includes all unassigned destinations, making the product appear to be available for shipping everywhere.
