Creating an about page

Share information about yourself, your business, or your project with visitors.

An about page is a staple of nearly every professional site, where you can tell your visitors essential information about yourself or your business. This guide includes tips for adding an about page to your Squarespace site.

Use a layout

Add a new page with the About layout and replace placeholder blocks with your own content:

  1. Open the Pages panel and click the + icon.
  2. In the Pages menu, click Page Layouts.
  3. Click About and choose a layout option.
  4. Add a title for the page (for example, About) and press Enter. You can change this later.
  5. Click Edit in the top-left corner to open the page editor.
  6. Click different blocks and click the pencil icon to replace the placeholder content with your own. You can also add new blocks to expand the layout. For more help, visit Layout pages.
  1. Open the Pages panel and click the + icon.
  2. In the Create New Page menu, click About.
  3. Choose a layout option.
  4. Enter a title for the page (for example, About) and press Enter. You can change this later.
  5. A new page will open with placeholder blocks. Hover over the page and click Edit to open the page editor.
  6. Click different blocks and click Edit to replace placeholder content with your own. You can also add new blocks to expand the layout. For more help, visit Layout pages.

Tip

 To build an about page from scratch, choose the Blank layout in the page menu. Then add blocks to customize the page with images, text, and other content.

What's included in the About layout?

The About layouts display some combination of:

The blocks that display are placeholders. Click into any text block to edit it. Click other blocks, then click the pencil icon or Edit to add your own content.

Add a bio or history

To add a bio, company description, or brief history to your about page, edit a text block. You can format the text to add headings, body text, bullets, and more.

Combine text and images

To add headshots, team photos, and other visual elements, edit or add image blocks. You can pair these images with text blocks, and even wrap floating images in text to create unique layouts. If your site is on version 7.1, add an auto layout section for a prearranged set of images and text.

Some About layouts include a social links block. To add icons or buttons that lead to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and other social profiles, edit the social links block.

A red box displays around the placeholder block if no account is connected. Visitors don't see this.

To display quotes from clients you want to stand out from other text, add quote blocks.

Add clients or previous customers

To display logos of previous clients or customers, add a gallery section (in version 7.1) or a grid gallery block (in version 7.0). You can link each logo to the clients’ websites using clickthrough URLs.

Rearrange the layout

After you're finished adding or editing blocks, drag and drop them around the page to create a custom layout. Then click Save to publish your changes.
