Use the URL option when you want to link to external sites or content, such as the website for a friend's business or a third-party service you use with your site.

To link to an external URL:

  1. After adding the link, select URL in the drop-down menu.
  2. Enter a site URL under Link.
  3. Switch the Open link in new tab toggle on to have the link open in a new tab.

In some cases, you may want to use the web address option to link to content on your own site that you can't otherwise link to, such as:

To link to a page on your site, add the page to your navigation. Because adding a page automatically adds a link to that page in your site's navigation, you don't need to create a separate link for each page. If a page's link isn't appearing on your site, you may need to enable it or move it out of the Not linked section.

To link to a collection filtered by categories or tags, visit Linking to categories and tags

Use the email option to encourage visitors to email you. When a visitor clicks the link, it opens a blank email in their default email service and automatically populates it with your information.

To link to an email address:

  1. After adding the link, select Email in the drop-down menu.
  2. Enter an email address under To.
  3. Click CC and BCC to add more email addresses.
  4. Add text to the Subject and Body fields to automatically populate those fields in the visitor's email. Keep in mind, visitors who click the email link can edit any populated fields before sending the email.
  5. Click Save in the link editor.

Use the phone option to encourage visitors to call you. When a visitor taps the link from a smartphone, it prompts them to call or text the number.

To link to a phone number:

  1. After adding the link, select Phone in the drop-down menu.
  2. Enter your phone number in the field, including country code and area code, if applicable. Don't include 0 at the beginning of the number, as this may cause the link to fail.
  3. Select Call for the link to call the number, or select Text for the link to open a blank text message to the number.
  4. Click Save in the link editor.

Use the file option to upload and link to files, like .pdf menus or audio files. Depending on the file type, uploaded files may download automatically or open in new tabs, where visitors can view them or save them to their computer.

To link to a file:

  1. After adding the link, select File in the drop-down menu.
  2. Click the upload icon to select a file from your computer. If you want to link to a file you've already uploaded to your site, you can search for it, or select it from the Recently uploaded list.
  3. Switch the Open link in new tab toggle on to have the file open in a new tab. Keep in mind, some file types may open in a new tab when visitors click the link regardless of this setting.
  4. Click Save in the link editor.

To remove a link from your navigation:

  1. Open the Pages panel.
  2. Hover over the link and click the trash can icon beside it.
