Adding years to your domain registration

Extend the registration of a domain you already own.

Last updated January 29, 2025

If you already have a registered domain with Squarespace, you can extend your domain registration term by purchasing more years. When you purchase future registration years, you lock in the current price. This means potential price changes won’t affect your domain during your registration term. Follow the steps in this guide to extend your domain registration by purchasing future years.

You can also purchase a multi-year registration during checkout when you first register your domain. To extend the registration period for a domain registered with a third party, contact your domain provider

Note

To learn more about the domain renewal process, and what to do if your domain expires or enters a suspended status, visit Squarespace domain renewals and expiration.

Before you begin

  • You can’t cancel a domain registration extension, and we can't offer refunds for extensions.
  • You can’t add registration years if you use SEPA as a payment method. To add years, you need to change your payment method
  • You can’t exceed the maximum term allowed by the TLD’s registry. For example, if you have a .com domain, you can register it for a maximum of 10 years. If you registered it for four years when you bought it, you can only extend the registration by six years at most.
  • If you’re transferring a domain to Squarespace, you can’t add registration years during the transfer process. After the transfer is complete, follow the steps below to add years.
  • You can’t extend the registration of Google-migrated domains for more than two years because they inherited the Google Domains renewal pricing. You can add more years after we renew the domain and start charging Squarespace pricing for it.
