You can register, transfer, or connect domains ending in .music to Squarespace. These domains are a great option if you're part of the global music community and industry.

The .music general top-level domain (gTLD) follows different rules than most other TLDs we offer. This guide covers certain special requirements and exceptions from Squarespace and id.MUSIC, Inc. (IDM), the organization that oversees .music domain registration.

To find a domain's price, you can search for it on our domain name search page.

Registration eligibility

To register a domain with a .music TLD, you must meet the following requirements set by IDM:

  1. You must have a provable historical or commercial use connection to the name or brand associated with the .music domain you purchase. This is because .music domains are intended for individuals and businesses associated with the music industry. During the registration process, you'll need to check a box to confirm that you have a connection to the name or brand, and that you understand that the registry has the right to audit this information. If your registration is audited and fails, any or all of your .music domains can be immediately suspended or revoked and no refund will be issued.
  2. You must verify your identity with IDM. After you purchase a .music domain, IDM will email you to verify your identity. To complete your domain’s registration, you must provide official government identification to IDM’s Identity Verification Solutions Provider. Your .music domain registration is put on registry server hold until your identity verification process is completed. Once verified, you'll receive a confirmation email from IDM. Keep in mind, we can’t issue a refund for your domain purchase if you fail the identity verification process.
  3. You must be, at all times, in compliance with IDM’s policies, including the Anti-Abuse and Legitimate Use Policy and the Registrant Eligibility Policy.

Along with verifying your identity with IDM, you'll still need to complete Squarespace's domain verification process. Keep in mind, if you've successfully verified your domain with Squarespace, but haven't yet verified your identity with IDM, you may still encounter a "Resend verification email" banner at the top of your domain details page. Successfully verifying your identity with IDM will remove the banner.
