Squarespace Payments and 1099-K forms

Everything you need to know about 1099-K forms.

Form 1099-K is used to report credit and debit card payments, or third-party network payments, you received from selling goods or services. 1099-K forms are only applicable to merchants based in the United States.

Who qualifies for a 1099-K form?

If you use Squarespace Payments to sell goods or services, and are located in the United States, you'll receive a 1099-K form if you meet the federal filing threshold of $5,000. If your state's filing requirements are less than that, you'll also receive a 1099-K form.

Accessing your 1099-K form

If you meet the federal or state filing threshold, Squarespace will send you a 1099-K form.You’ll receive your 1099-K in the mail. Please ensure the contact information in your Squarespace Payments settings contains your correct legal name, address, and tax identification number (SSN/EIN/ITIN). 

To review your mailing address:

  1. Open the Settings panel.
  2. Under Accept Credit Cards and More, click Manage Settings.
  3. Under Contact Information, double check that your email address and business address are correct. If needed, click the pencil icon to edit your contact information.
  4. Click edit next to personal details.
  5. Enter your home address.
  6. Click Submit.

Note

When you update your business details, you may be prompted to reverify your account, which may temporarily pause your ability to receive payments and payouts.

FAQ

When will I receive my 1099-K form?

Squarespace will postmark 1099-K forms for delivery by 1/31. First-class mails can take up to 10 business days to arrive.

I didn't receive a 1099-K form, is there anything I should do? 

Forms are issued by each payment processor if your activity exceeds the federal or state threshold. If you have over $5,000 with both, you'll receive two forms, one from Stripe and one from Squarespace Payments. If you didn't receive a form and believe you should have, please contact Customer Support.

If I use both Stripe and Squarespace Payments during 2024, how will I get my 1099-K forms?

Forms are issued by each payment processor if your activity exceeds the federal or state threshold. If you have over $5,000 with both, you'll receive two forms, one from Stripe and one from Squarespace Payments.

What if I need to update my personal or business information on the 1099-K form?

If you have already received your 1099-k form, and noticed the information is incorrect, contact Customer Support.

What if the amount reported on my 1099-k isn’t what I expected? 

The amount reported on your 1099-k reflects the gross amount of payments made prior to fees, discounts, fees, taxes, etc. To reconcile fees and costs against the amount reported on your 1099-k, export your sales data from the Accounting panel.
