By connecting your Facebook account to your Squarespace site, you can display social icons, share content from Squarespace to Facebook, and add Squarespace Tabs to your Facebook page.
Before you begin
- Log out of all Facebook accounts before connecting.
- Check if you have the right Facebook permissions. If you're connecting a Facebook page (for a business or brand), you must be set as an Admin or Editor for that page to connect and share your site's content. To learn more, visit Facebook's documentation.
- To connect Facebook to multiple Squarespace sites, repeat Step 1 for each Squarespace site.
- Troubleshooting tip: If your personal Facebook profile is appearing when the social icon is clicked, visit Troubleshooting Facebook sharing issues.
Step 1 - Connect your Facebook account
Depending on your plan:
- In the Home Menu, click Settings, and then click Connected Accounts.
- In the Home Menu, click Social Icons, and then click Connected Accounts (Cover Pages).
Click Connect Account.
Select Facebook from the Social Accounts menu, and log in using your Facebook username and password.
Note: If you're already logged into Facebook, that account will connect without you re-entering your username and password. Ensure you're connecting the correct account.
To connect Facebook to your Squarespace site, you'll need to authorize Squarespace to post to your Facebook profile and pages. By skipping these permissions, Facebook pages connected to your profile may not be available.
Your Facebook account is now connected to your Squarespace site.
Step 2 - Display the Facebook icon
You can display a Facebook icon for your profile or page on the front of your site. Each template displays social icons differently, and not all templates have built-in social icons. To learn more, visit Displaying social icons.
In Connected Accounts settings, click your Facebook account profile.
Ensure Show Social Icon is checked.
Step 3 - Share content on Facebook
You can share blog posts, gallery images, gallery videos, audio tracks, products, and events to your connected Facebook account. To learn more, visit Sharing content on social media.
Step 4 - Add Squarespace tabs
You can add Squarespace tabs to a Facebook page connected to your Squarespace account. These tabs display content from a regular Page or Gallery Page. To learn more, visit Adding Facebook tabs.
Connect a Facebook business or brand page
You can connect a Facebook page for your business, brand, or organization to your Squarespace site.
After connecting your Facebook account in Step 1, go to your Connected Accounts settings and click your Facebook account profile. Scroll down to Push Target and select your Page. If you only have one Facebook page on your account, you'll only see the This Account option.
Check Show Push Option.
Next, copy the URL of the Facebook Page you wish to push to and paste it into the Profile URL box.
You can customize the information (URL, Title, Author) that pushes to Facebook. View the formatting options by hovering over the ? and see an example of how your site's information will appear below the field.
You can add default text to display when items are published to your Facebook page.
Check Impersonate Page to push content to Facebook as your Facebook Page. This is a good option if you'd like the post to look like it came from within Facebook, rather than pushed from your Squarespace site.
Note: You can connect multiple Facebook accounts by returning to the Connected Accounts panel and clicking Connect Account. Log out of Facebook, then select Facebook from the Social Accounts menu, and log in with the Facebook username and password for the account you want to connect.
