Goods & Services Tax, or GST, is a tax on goods and services. This guide discusses GST for residents of Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. The current GST rate for each country is:

• Australia - 10%
• New Zealand - 15%
• Singapore - 8%

If you're registered for GST with the Australian Taxation Office, New Zealand Inland Revenue, or Singapore’s Inland Revenue Authority, you can apply for an exemption from paying GST to Squarespace by following these steps.

GST and Squarespace pricing

If you reside in Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore and don’t certify that you're registered for GST, all payments you make to Squarespace are subject to a GST charge.

This applies to any paid service we offer, including your:

• Website subscription purchases or renewals
• Domain purchases, renewals, or transfers
• Email Campaigns purchases or renewals
• Google Workspace subscription purchases, renewals, or charges for new users
• Getty Images purchases
• Digital Product plan purchases
• Acuity Scheduling

Prices listed on our website don’t include GST. You’ll find your total charge and a tax breakdown before checkout and on your invoices.

Am I exempt from GST?

If you're a business registered for GST in Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore, you can apply for an exemption from GST collection. For help applying for exemption, follow the steps below.

Confirm your GST information format is valid

Ensure your GST information is formatted correctly before you add it to your site. Some countries have tools to confirm you have formatted your GST number correctly:

Australian Business Number

If our system doesn't recognize your ABN when you add your GST exemption information, use the Australian Business Register's validation tool to check if your ABN is valid and formatted correctly.

Note: This only applies to businesses in Australia. New Zealand businesses won't have an ABN.

Singapore GST number

If our system doesn't recognize your Singapore GST Number when you add your GST exemption information, use the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore's GST Registered Business Search to confirm if your GST Number is valid and formatted correctly.

Add your GST exemption information

If you run a site for a business, and are exempt from GST collection, follow these steps. Some countries have specific GST registration criteria. For example, if you’re a business in Australia, you'll need your Australian Business Number (ABN).

Note: Only follow these steps if you've registered for GST with the Australian Taxation Office or New Zealand or Singapore’s Inland Revenue. It's possible to have an ABN without registering for GST. If you enter an ABN but aren't registered, you won't be able to enter your payment information.

Squarespace sites or standalone subscriptions you already have 

1. Open the Billing panel and click Payment information.
2. Enter your credit card information and billing address.
3. Ensure you select Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore from the Country drop-down menu.
4. In the GST status section, click the checkbox to confirm you're registered for GST in Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore.
5. Enter your business name and ABN or GST registration number. For businesses in Australia, enter your ABN. For businesses in Singapore, enter your GST registration number.
6. Click Save and continue.

If you run multiple Squarespace business sites in Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore, repeat these steps for each site individually.

Complete the GST fields on the checkout page when upgrading to paid service.

Add your GST number for Acuity Scheduling accounts

Note: The instructions below include links to Acuity settings separated by the kind of account you use to log into Acuity. Which kind of account do I have?

If you log into Acuity with a Squarespace account, follow the steps in the above section to add your GST information. If you log into Acuity with an Acuity account, you can add your GST information by updating your credit card on file:

1. Go to the My Account page.
2. Click Update credit card.
3. Enter your GST number.
4. Click Update billing.
