Reservations blocks for Tock

Enable visitors to make reservations or RSVP to events through your Tock account.

Last updated November 7, 2024

Use a reservations block to connect your website with Tock, an all-in-one tool for businesses in the hospitality industry.

To get started, you'll need a Tock account. You can sign up here, or click the link in the block. Tock features vary by plan, so ensure you sign up for the plan that includes all you need for your business. For example, the reservations block won't offer reservations if your plan doesn't support them.

Tip

You can use reservations blocks to promote events from your Tock account. To add events directly to your Squarespace site, create an events page.

Before you begin

  • Using reservations blocks requires a subscription with Tock. For help with Tock's billing, contact Tock.
  • You'll manage all reservations made with the reservations block in your Tock account. It's not possible to manage these reservations directly on Squarespace.
  • In 2024, Tock was acquired by American Express, but this doesn't affect the reservations block. If you added reservations blocks before the acquisition, they'll continue to work the same on your site.

Add a reservations block

To add a reservations block:

  1. Edit a page or post, click Add Block or an insert point, then click Reservations under Powered by Tock. For help, visit Adding content with blocks.
  2. Open the block editor by clicking the pencil icon on the block.
  3. If this is the first reservations block you've added, click Learn more to set up your Tock account, or click Already a customer.
  4. Add your Tock URL slug to the Business URL slug field. This is the last part of your Tock URL, as bolded here: https://exploretock.com/example.
  5. Click the Design tab to style the block's appearance.

It's not possible to edit the Book now button text.

To test the reservations block, use an incognito window or log out of your site. The reservations block won't work correctly if you try to make a reservation while logged into your site.

Style the block

You can change the block layout in the block's Design tab:

  • Layout - Choose from Button or Inline. With the button layout, visitors enter information after clicking Book now. With the inline layout, drop-down menus for guests, date, and time display beside the Book now button.
  • Alignment - Align the block left, center, or right.
  • Tock logo - Switch this toggle on to display the Tock logo below the block.

Tip

If you're using the block for a one-time event, we recommend the button layout. Inline layouts are better for recurring events, or other options like restaurant reservations, because they always display date and time drop-downs.

Reservations blocks follow your button font and button color settings in site styles, including the text in the drop-down menus.

If your site is on version 7.0 and you don't see button tweaks in your site styles, temporarily add a form block to the same page as your reservations block. This should make the button tweaks visible. After saving your style changes, you can delete the form block.

How visitors use the block

Reservations blocks blocks display a Book now button. Clicking it opens a pop-up window with reservation information, event calendars, and other information from your Tock account.

Keep in mind, if your Tock account has both reservations and events, all of the information will appear for customers when they click the button.

In the pop-up window, they can enter their information, then click a button to continue to Tock to finalize their reservation or ticket purchase.

Note

If visitors use an incognito or private browser, the information they enter in the reservations block on Squarespace may not carry over to Tock, and they'll have to reenter their information. Encourage your visitors not to use incognito browsers to avoid this.
