Linking a blog post title to another page

Connect blog page titles to other pages or sites.

Last updated July 8, 2024

You can make the title of a blog post a link to an external page. This is a great way to directly reference external content from another site when blogging.

Link a blog post title to another page

To link the title of a blog post to another page:

  1. Open the Pages panel and click a blog page.
  2. Hover over the post in the side panel and click ..., then click Settings.
  3. In the Content tab, enter the full URL to link to in the Source URL field, including http:// or https://.
  4. Switch the Link Post Title to Source URL toggle on.
  5. Click Back, then click Save.
  1. Open the Pages panel and click a blog page.
  2. Hover over the post and click Edit.
  3. Click the Options tab.
  4. Enter the full URL to link to in the Source URL field, including http:// or https://.
  5. Check Post Title should link to Source URL.
  6. Click Save or Save & Publish.

If your site is on version 7.1:

  1. Tap More, tap Pages, tap the blog, then tap Blog Content.
  2. Next to the blog post, tap the ... icon, tap Settings, then tap Content.
  3. In Content settings, tap Source URL, then enter the full URL to link to, including the http:// or https://.
  4. Tap to switch on the Link Title to Source URL toggle.
  5. Tap Back, then tap Save in the top-left.

If your site is on version 7.0:

  1. Tap More, tap Pages, tap the blog, then tap the blog post.
  2. Tap ..., then tap Page Settings
  3. Tap Source URL, then enter the full URL to link to, including the http:// or https://.
  4. Tap Back, then tap to switch the Link Title to Source URL toggle on.

Your blog post title now links to the source URL. In summary blocks, both the post title and featured image link to the source URL.

Note

Adding a source URL only creates a link. It's not possible to use it to set a canonical URL when syndicating content from another site or blog.

Source URL display

Options for displaying the source URL on your blog post depend on your site's version.

The source URL doesn't display. Titles of blog posts linking to a source URL display an arrow on the Blog landing page. Clicking the title or Read More link opens the source link, and clicking the post featured image takes you to the post.

Some templates display the source URL on the page or add an arrow to titles linked to a source URL. For example, here's how posts with a title linked to a source look in Galapagos:

Add a source URL to a blog post without linking it

Some templates only display the source URL if the post title doesn't link to it. To do this, follow the steps above, but leave Post Title should link to Source URL unchecked. This is useful for attributing another site for your content without directing visitors away from your blog.
