Managing inventory

View and edit products from all store pages in a single location.

In the Products panel and the Squarespace app, you can search and manage your product inventory from a single location. In this guide, you'll learn how to view, organize, search, and edit your inventory.

Products panel vs. store pages

You can view products in two places: on their individual store pages and in the Products panel. The Products panel shows all products on your site, while a store page only displays the particular products added to that page. To add a new product to your site, you'll need to assign it to a store page. Deleting a store page removes all the store's products from your inventory.

Tip

To rearrange how your inventory displays on your site, go to the store page.

View your inventory

All published, scheduled, and hidden products in your store appear in the Products panel. Deleted products don't appear.

  1. Open the Products & Services panel, then click Products. You can also press the ? key while any panel is open and search products.
  2. Click the arrow next to a product name to show its variants.

Each product displays the following:

If some of these columns don't display, it may be because your browser is too narrow. To resolve the issue, expand your browser or zoom out.

For stock and price levels, sorting is based on variants. For example, if you’re sorting by stock, and one of your variants for a product is out of inventory, the product it belongs to will be at the top of the list.

Filter products

You can filter products by type in the Products panel. The side panel lists the types of products on your site, including physical, services, downloads, and gift cards. Click a product type to review the corresponding products. You can only filter by one product type at a time.

  1. Tap the Commerce tab, then tap Products. You can also tap the Pages tab, then tap a store page.
  2. Tap any product to view more details, including any variants.  

Each product displays the following:

  • Price - The current price of each item or variant. If a product is on sale, it shows a Sale badge.
  • Product - The name of the product.
  • SKU - The inventory identifier for your product.
  • Stock - The in-stock quantity for each item or variant.
  • Visibility - The current state of the product's visiblity on your site. Products can be public, hidden, or scheduled.

For stock and price levels, sorting is based on variants. For example, if you’re sorting by stock, and one of your variants for a product is out of inventory, the product it belongs to will be at the top of the list.

Note

If you have more than 500 products in your inventory (not including variants), the app will only display the first 500, listed alphabetically.

Troubleshooting blank tabs

If blank lists or a "No Products" message appears in the Products panel, there are a few reasons this could happen:

  • Your store isn't live. To fix this, ensure that your store page is enabled and not hidden by a password.
  • Your store doesn’t have any live products. To fix this, add or edit products and ensure their status is set to Visible
  • You’ve logged into a site without a store. To fix this, add a store page and get started with Commerce, or switch to another site with an active store attached. 

Search inventory

Click the search icon to search for products by:

  1. Product titles
  2. Tags and categories
  3. SKUs

Tap the search icon, then search by product title. The app doesn't support searching inventory by tags, categories, or SKUs. 

Add a product

You can add a product on the computer or in the Squarespace app.

In the Products panel, click Add product in the top-right corner. Then select the store page where the product will appear on your site. To learn more, visit Adding products to your store.

To add a product, tap Commerce, then tap + in the top-right corner and choose Add new product.

Edit stock levels

Stock automatically decreases with each purchase, after checkout. Products with at least one sold out variant display a red arrow in the Products Panel. Click the arrow to view variant stock levels.

Products with only one item left in stock won't display the quantity field. To display the current stock level for each variant on the product details page, enable limited availability labels

You can also receive a Stock Level Alert email when an item is running low. To receive push notifications about low inventory to your mobile device, download the Squarespace app.

It's not possible to set an item limit per order, or to set stock levels for Subscription products.

To edit stock levels:

  1. Find the product you want to edit. Click the arrow to show variants.
  2. Click the Price field to enter a new price.
  3. Click the Stock field to enter a new number.
  1. In the Commerce tab, tap the Products panel, then tap the product you want to edit.
  2. Tap Price to enter a new price.
  3. Tap Quantity or Stock to enter a new number. 

Tip

Enable product waitlists to notify interested shoppers when sold out items are back in stock.

Bulk edit products

You can edit some product details directly from the Products panel, without having to open each product individually. This may be the quickest way to edit multiple products, depending on the details you want to edit. If you’re on the Commerce plans, you can also bulk-edit products by uploading an updated products .csv file. To learn more, visit Editing products.
