Checkout on your domain

Send shoppers to a secure, custom checkout page.

Last updated January 11, 2024

With checkout on your domain, customers ready to purchase will be directed to a custom, secure checkout page on your domain. They’ll see a URL with your primary domain in it that looks like this:

https://yourdomain.com/checkout

The entire shopping experience will live on your domain, creating a consistent look and a sense of security. When this is enabled, customers won't be directed to our default checkout page that starts with https://secure.squarespace.com/.

Note

Checkout on all plans is protected by SSL and is PCI compliant. If you're on a plan that doesn't include checkout on your domain, your checkout is secure. Customers will see our default secure checkout URL that has "Squarespace" in it.

Eligibility

Checkout on your domain is enabled on your site automatically if you have:

Checkout on built-in domains

If you don't have a custom domain, your checkout page URL will have your built-in domain in it, like https://youraccountid.squarespace.com/checkout.

Check your status

To see if checkout on your domain is enabled, visit Checkout Settings:

  1. Open the Checkout panel.
  2. Look under Checkout on your domain. If you see your custom domain, like https://yourdomain.com/checkout, then checkout on your domain is active.

Troubleshooting

Checkout on your domain isn't working

If you make a test purchase and the checkout domain is your site's built-in domain instead of your custom domain, it's probably because you're logged in. To preview a real shopper's experience, visit your site in an incognito window and make a test purchase. If your site's custom domain still doesn't display at checkout, go to your checkout settings for more troubleshooting.

  1. Open the Checkout panel
  2. Scroll to Checkout on your domain

If the Your Checkout URL field displays https://secure.squarespace.com/checkout instead of your custom domain, checkout on your domain is inactive. Review the text under Checkout on your domain to see what to adjust.

Check your security settings under SSL

  1. Open the Developer tools panel.
  2. Click SSL.
  3. Under Security Preference, select Secure (Preferred).

For help, visit Getting started with SSL.

Shoppers see a 404 page after checkout

If your site is set to Private, shoppers will see a 404 page after checkout, but their orders will be placed successfully. To prevent the 404 page from displaying, set your site to Public.
