Who's my domain provider?

Resources on locating the domain provider for your domain.

Last updated January 10, 2025

Your domain provider (aka domain registrar) hosts your custom domain name, like www.yourdomain.com. You’ll need to know who your domain provider is to:

There are a few ways to find your domain provider. You can:

Tip

When you build a site with Squarespace, Squarespace is your web host. Learn more about the difference between web hosting and domain hosting.

If you bought your domain from Google

All Google Domains have migrated to Squarespace and are now Squarespace Domains. If your domain migrated, you'll manage your domain from the domains dashboard in Squarespace. Log in with the email address that you used for your Google Domains account. You may want to:

If you’re not sure which email address to log in with, search all possible inboxes for emails from Squarespace about the migration. If you know the email address but can’t log in, recover your account.

Use ICANN's free lookup tool

You can use ICANN's lookup tool to find the registrar information for any domain.

  1. Go to ICANN’s lookup.
  2. Enter your domain name in the search field.
  3. Click Lookup.
  4. On the results page, look for the name and URL listed in Registrar and Registrar URL sections.
  5. The Registrar is usually your domain provider. Use the Registrar URL to log into your domain account or contact the provider for more help. If you see a Reseller listed, this might be your domain provider instead. To make changes to your domain, try logging into your account with your reseller first.

If Squarespace is your domain provider, you'll manage your domain in your Squarespace domains dashboard.

Note

If Tucows is listed as the Registrar, Squarespace may be your provider. See this section for more information.

Find your domain provider in the Squarespace domains dashboard

To identify your domain provider in Squarespace, you can check your domains dashboard:

  1. Open the domains dashboard
  2. If prompted, log into your account. If you're having trouble, visit I can't log in.
  3. Find the domain name and look under the Provider column. The name listed is your domain provider.

Resold Squarespace domains

Squarespace partners with third-party companies to provide Squarespace domains to their customers. If you registered your Squarespace domain through a reseller, Squarespace is your domain provider, but you may need to manage certain aspects of your domain with your reseller. To learn more about identifying and getting support for your resold domain, visit Managing Squarespace domains registered through a third party reseller.

Tucows and Squarespace domains

We sell domains through two registrars, Squarespace Domains LLC and as a reseller of Tucows domains. To determine which of these is your domain's registrar:

  1. Open the domains dashboard.
  2. Click the domain.
  3. Find the Provider at the top of the page. Here it shows either Squarespace Domains LLC or Tucows.

Tucows is in your Whois record but Squarespace isn't your provider

Tucows sells domains directly and through other resellers. If you see Tucows listed in your Whois record, visit your Domains panel to see who is listed as the provider.
