Adding related posts links

Adding related post links to your Blog Page is a great way to engage readers and help them explore your content. Our blog-focused templates have built-in features for creating related posts links. You can also create this look on any template using Summary Blocks.

Related posts work best at the bottom of blog posts, where they entice visitors to read other relevant content. When a visitor clicks a related post link, the post opens in the same browser tab.

For general information on adding and managing blog posts, visit Blogging with Squarespace.

Use a template with built-in related posts

Each related post link displays the post thumbnail, publication date, and title.

Which related posts display depends on your Blog Page content, but the template considers these attributes when selecting posts:

  • Blog post titles
  • Text in Text Blocks
  • Tags
  • Categories

This search generates two or more related posts, depending on the template. Related posts will become more accurate as you continue to add content to your Blog Page.

Note: Related posts are automatically generated on these templates. It isn't possible to edit or change related post links. For more control over which posts display, disable related posts and use the Summary Block method below.

Use a Summary Block

The Summary Block lets you filter and present content on your site in a magazine-style layout, making it perfect for displaying related posts on a Blog Page. This is a good solution if your template doesn't offer built-in related posts or if you want more control over the related posts' display. To generate related posts, use a Summary Block that filters only a certain tag or category from your previous posts.

To add a Summary Block for related posts, open a blog post. Scroll to the bottom of the content. Click an Insert Point and select a Summary Block from the Block Menu. You can select Wall, Carousel, List, and Grid, depending on how you want your related posts to display. For help adding blocks, visit Adding blocks with Insert Points.

In this example we’re using the Carousel Summary Block:

In the Content tab, select the Blog Page containing the related posts. We recommend selecting the Blog Page you’re posting to if you want to show related posts from the same blog.

In the Layout tab, customize how the block will appear. If you’re using the Carousel Summary Block, you can use the Header Text field to add a title for the block, such as “Related Posts.” Otherwise, you can add a Text Block above the Summary Block to add a title.

In the Display tab, choose the amount of content you’d like to show with each Related Post link. We recommend displaying at least the post title.

Use the Category Filter and Tag Filter fields to limit the Summary Block to only posts labeled with those categories or tags. Since this block will represent posts related to the post you’re currently editing, choose a category or tag relevant to the current content.

Si deseas una explicación detallada de cada configuración, consulta Usar los Bloques de resumen.

Click Apply to save your changes.

When you’re finished creating your blog post, click Save to save the posts as a draft, or click Save & Publish to share the post immediately.

Repeat these steps for every blog post where you want to display related post links.
