.eco domains

Learn about the guidelines and features of .eco domains.

Last updated February 3, 2025

You can register, transfer, or connect domains ending in .eco to Squarespace. These domains are a great option if you're an individual, business, or organization committed to environmental responsibility.

The .eco general top-level domain (gTLD) follows different rules than most other TLDs we offer. This guide covers certain special requirements and exceptions from Squarespace and Big Room Inc., the organization that oversees .eco domain registration.

To find a domain's price, you can search for it on our domain name search page or your domains dashboard.

Activate your .eco domain

After you register your .eco domain, you'll receive an activation email from activate@profiles.eco with the subject line Activate [yourdomain].eco to the email address you used to register your domain. The email includes instructions on how to set up your .eco community profile and activate your domain.

If you didn't receive your activation email, you may need to disable Whois privacy on your domain temporarily before resending the reactivation email. For more help, visit the .eco registry's help center.

To learn more about the .eco TLD's registry policies, visit their website.

Create a .eco community profile

After registering a domain with a .eco TLD, you must create a .eco community profile before you can use your domain.

If you don't create a community profile, you'll be unable to:

  • Access your .eco domain on the internet
  • Use your .eco domain with your website, email, or any other services
  • Redirect your domain to any other websites
