• Online stores - List your products in an online store so that customers can add things to their carts, provide personalization requests, and check out without speaking to you. This is a great option if you offer a standard set of products with minimal customization.
• Portfolio sites - Display work in a portfolio or gallery page so that customers can view your past projects before deciding to hire or commission you. This is a good option if you make bespoke items, artwork, or do project-based work tailored to individuals.
• About pages - Add an about page to display information about how you work, who you serve, and what clients can expect from your work together. This is a great option if you offer skills or expertise, like consultation or medical appointments. Personalized items

If you have an inventory of items that you offer individual personalizations for, like engraving or made-to-measure clothing, create an online store and a custom product form to collect the relevant information from your customers. With this shopping experience, customers can browse your store page, add items to their cart, provide personalization details, and check out all on their own.

Creating an online store is possible with Squarespace Commerce, which is a premium feature available in Business and Commerce plans.

Commissions and creative projects

If you design, build, or create one-of-a-kind things and want to offer your art or services to customers, you can send invoices and create projects. This is a great option for artists, web designers, and architects.

This shopping experience requires customers to get in touch with you via email to complete their purchases, so you’ll need to add a form block or contact page to your site, which allows potential customers to reach out to you. Once a prospective client reaches out, you can send proposals, estimates, and contracts to agree on the scope of work, and invoices to collect payments.

If you take commissions with minimal direction from clients, you may only need to send them an invoice. If you plan to work with the client in an ongoing way to shape the final outcome, you may also want to create a project to manage your timeline and keep track of important milestones.

Services

If you offer appointment-based services tailored to individuals, like consultations, coaching, or medical services, use Acuity Scheduling or send invoices. Market yourself with an about page, and include testimonials to build trust.

Acuity Scheduling is a HIPAA-compliant platform that allows clients to book appointments and classes. Customers can complete booking, pay a deposit, and pay seamlessly online. With Acuity Scheduling, it’s also possible to offer clients pay-what-you-want pricing.

If you offer services via invoice, customers will fill out a contact form on your site and you’ll do most of the scheduling, correspondence, and payment via email. Invoices may be the best option if you want to schedule time with clients personally, instead of having them book time with you via an online scheduler.
