Advanced Share options

Share buttons display directly on the page and have advanced styling options in these template families:

  • Brine
  • Farro
  • Skye
  • Tremont
  • York

After enabling Share buttons, you can adjust their size, spacing, color, and style:

  1. Go to a blog post or product item.
  2. In the Home Menu, click Design, and then click Site Styles.
  3. Scroll down to Share Buttons.
  4. Use the Style tweak to adjust the style (icon only, solid, outline, or raised) of the Share buttons.
  5. Depending on which style you choose, more tweaks will appear to add labels and adjust the button options.

Here are a few ways you can style them:

Hide Share buttons

To remove all Share buttons on your site:

  1. In the Home Menu, click Marketing.
  2. Click Share Buttons.
  3. Uncheck all the social media sites in the Share Buttons panel.

Hide from product item pages only

To remove Share buttons from product item pages only, in the Home Menu, click Design, and then click Site Styles.

Use the tweaks below to remove the buttons in these template families:

  • Galapagos and Supply - Check Hide Product Share Button
  • Brine, Farro, Skye, Tremont, York - Uncheck Show Share Buttons.

For all other templates, uncheck Product Social Sharing.

Remove from blog posts

To remove Share buttons from blog posts in these template families:

  • Bedford and Pacific - Scroll down to Blog in Site Styles and check Hide List Entry Footer. This hides comments and the Like and Share buttons on the blog landing page.
  • Skye - Scroll down to Share Buttons in Site Styles and uncheck Show Icons, Show Labels, and Show Counts.
  • Farro - Scroll down to Blog: Item in Site Styles and uncheck Show Share Buttons.

For all other templates, there's no built-in style options. Uncheck all the social media sites in the Share Buttons panel to remove them from your whole site, including blog posts.

Remove from Album Pages

To remove Share buttons from Album Pages only:

  1. In the Home Menu, click Design, and then click Site Styles.
  2. Scroll down to Album Options.
  3. Check Hide Album Share Link.
  4. Click Save.

Facebook, Pinterest, and StumbleUpon display

Note the exceptions with these services:

  • Facebook - In templates that use Share links, the Facebook option displays as a Like icon. Clicking this button won’t post content directly to visitors’ Facebook timelines, but the content may appear in their friends’ News Feeds, depending on their individual settings and Facebook’s algorithms.
  • Pinterest - The sharing option only appears for blog posts, products, or Album Pages with thumbnail images because Pinterest pulls the thumbnail as the image to pin.
  • StumbleUpon - The sharing option doesn’t display if you’re logged in, but it always displays to your visitors. The StumbleUpon Share button might load slowly if SSL is enabled.

Next steps

You may want to connect your site to social media in other ways:

  • Add icons that link to your social media sites to your header, footer, or other page content areas.
  • Add blocks that embed your Tweets, Instagram photos, and other social content on a page or blog post.
  • Learn more about how Squarespace connects to social media in our Connected Accounts guides.
