Using Tumblr with Squarespace

Tumblr is a blogging and social networking site. Connecting Tumblr is a great way to cross-post blog posts and encourage visitors to share your content on their blogs. This guide explores different ways you can use Tumblr with Squarespace. 

Here's what you can do with this integration:

Connect your Tumblr account

Before you start using Tumblr with Squarespace, you need to connect your account: 

  1. In the Home Menu, click Settings.
  2. Click Connected Accounts.
  3. Click Connect Account.
  4. Select Tumblr from the Social Accounts menu. 
  5. Log in using your Tumblr username and password. 

Add a social icon

You can add a Tumblr icon that links to your Tumblr profile:

  1. In Connected Accounts, click your Tumblr account to open Tumblr Settings. 
  2. Ensure Show Social Icon is checked. 
  3. From the Primary Blog drop-down menu, select the blog to connect (if you have more than one blog). Blog posts you push from Squarespace will publish on this blog.
  4. Click Save. 
Note: After connecting Tumblr to Squarespace in this step, the social icon will automatically display in most templates, but not all of them. You can also add social icons using the Social Links Block. Learn how these icons display in your template in our template guide.

Add a Share button

To help visitors share your content on Tumblr, you can add a Tumblr Share button to the following content:

  • Album pages
  • Events pages
  • Gallery pages
  • Regular pages
  • Blog posts
  • Product items

Push content to Tumblr automatically

You can share the following content on Tumblr as you publish it:

  • Blog posts
  • Gallery images
  • Gallery videos
  • Audio tracks
  • Product items
  • Events

The following content from blog posts will display on Tumblr:

  • Text Blocks
  • Image Blocks
  • Markdown Blocks
  • Quote Blocks

No other content will display on Tumblr, including Gallery Blocks or Gallery Page images. To ensure all images display, use multiple Image Blocks in blog posts.
