Removing "Made with Squarespace" from your site

How to delete the “Made with Squarespace” text at the bottom of your site.

Last updated July 12, 2023

The "Made with Squarespace" text that automatically appears at the bottom of your site is optional, and you're welcome to remove it by following the steps this guide.

Tip

If your site is on version 7.0, the text is "Powered by Squarespace." You can also add or remove a separate Squarespace Badge, which is a small Squarespace logo.

How you remove this text depends on your site's version

The "Made with Squarespace" text is part of a text block in your site's footer. To remove it:

  1. Click Edit in the top-left corner of your site preview.
  2. Hover over the footer and click Edit footer.
  3. Click into the text block and delete the "Made with Squarespace" text.
  4. Click Save to save your changes and keep editing, or Exit then Save to close the editor.

In most templates, "Powered by Squarespace" is in its own text block in the footer. To remove it:

  1. Hover over the footer and click Edit. If you don't see the Edit annotation, collapse the site preview by clicking the arrow in the top-left corner.
  2. In the footer editor, click and drag the "Powered by Squarespace" text block into the trash icon that appears.
  3. To replace the text with your own content, you can add new blocks
  4. Click Save to publish your changes.

Squarespace badge (version 7.0)

Accessing this feature

Version 7.1 sites don't have a Squarespace Badge option.

In addition to the "Powered by Squarespace" text, on version 7.0 you can add a small Squarespace logo at the top or bottom of your site called a Squarespace badge. When a visitor hovers over it or taps it on a mobile device, a "Powered by Squarespace" animation appears.

To add the Squarespace badge:

  1. Open the Design panel and click Squarespace badge.
  2. Select Enable Squarespace badge (white) or Enable Squarespace badge (black) from the drop-down menu.
  3. Using the drop-down menus that appear, select the badge's position on your site, when it shows (always or only when scrolled to the bottom), and if it shows on computers and/or mobile devices.
  4. Click Save.

To remove the Squarespace Badge:

  1. Open the Design panel and click Squarespace badge.
  2. In the first drop-down menu, select Disable Squarespace badge.
  3. Click Save.
