Getting a JavaScript console error

Access your Javascript console and Network tab to capture an error.

For some issues, we may ask that you send us a screenshot of your browser's JavaScript console and Network tab.

This guide shows how to access the JavaScript console and Network tab using Squarespace's supported browsers.

Capture the error

After you experience an error:

  1. Open your browser's Javascript console. See below for browser-specific steps.
  2. Refresh your browser.
  3. Re-create the error.
  4. Take a screenshot including the contents of the Javascript console and the Network tab.

Ensure you refresh your browser, or else the Javascript console and Network tab won’t display the error, which we need to troubleshoot.

Chrome

To access the JavaScript console:

Mac

⌘ + Option + J

  1. Click View.
  2. Select Developer.
  3. Select JavaScript Console.

Windows

Ctrl + Shift + J

  1. Click or in the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select More Tools.
  3. Select Developer Tools.
  4. Select the Console tab.

To access the Network tab:

Mac

⌘ + Option + I

  1. Click View.
  2. Select Developer.
  3. Select DeveloperTools.
  4. Select the Network tab.

Windows

Ctrl + Shift + I

This will open the last tab viewed. Select the Network tab.

  1. Click or in the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select More Tools.
  3. Select DeveloperTools.
  4. Select the Network tab.

Safari

To access the JavaScript console:

⌘ + Option + C

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. In the Advanced tab, check Show Develop menu in menu bar.
  4. Click Develop.
  5. Select Show JavaScript Console.

To access the Network tab:

⌘ + Option + I

This will open the last tab viewed. Select the Network tab.

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. In the Advanced tab, check Show Develop menu in menu bar.
  4. Click Develop.
  5. Select Show JavaScript Console.
  6. Click the Network tab.

Firefox
