Adding an Announcement Bar

You can use the Announcement Bar to display a custom message above your site. This is a great way to announce things like a sale, promotion, a change to your hours, or scheduled site maintenance.

This is a Premium feature available in the current Website Business plan and higher:

  • Available in: All Business and Commerce plans
  • Available in: Legacy Personal plan (no longer available for new subscriptions)
  • Not available in: Current Personal plan
  • Trial: Available during a trial

To learn more, visit Premium features.

Note: The Announcement Bar appears on every page of your site except Cover Pages. It can't be customized or enabled per-page.

Style the Announcement Bar

Note: Styling the Announcement Bar is only supported on desktop.

Use Site Styles to customize the appearance of your Announcement Bar. You can edit the Bar Background Color, Bar Text Color, and Bar Font.

Reset visibility (optional)

Browsers track when you close the Announcement Bar (using the X in the top-right corner) so it's not displayed repeatedly. Clicking Reset Visibility restores the Announcement Bar so it reappears in your browser. This is especially useful when testing your site.

To make the Announcement Bar reappear in your browser, click Reset Visibility. You'll see this option at the bottom of the Announcement Bar panel after closing Announcement Bar.

Note: The Reset Visibility button restores the Announcement Bar in your browser when you're logged into your Squarespace site. Clicking Reset Visibility doesn't restore the Announcement Bar for your visitors. To make the Announcement Bar reappear to all visitors who once closed it, change the content, and the Announcement Bar reappears.
