Adding a statement descriptor in Stripe

After a customer places an order on your site with a credit card or Apple Pay, Stripe sends basic information about your business and the purchase to your customer's bank. A combination of the following identifiers will appear on your customer's bank statement, depending on the format their bank uses: your business name, your site URL, your business location, or your phone number.

You can customize the text that appears on your customers' credit card statements by editing the statement descriptor in your Stripe account settings.

Step 1 - Log into Stripe

  1. Log into your Stripe account.
  2. Click your username in the top-right corner, and then select Account Settings.

Step 2 - Edit the statement descriptor

In the General tab, change the text in the Statement descriptor box. We recommend that you use a word or phrase that's short and recognizable, such as your business name or domain name.

Note: Stripe has a 22 character limit for statement descriptors. The statement descriptor will be in all caps. This can’t be disabled.

Click Done to save your changes.

Note: Visit Stripe’s documentation to learn more about the information they send to customers’ banking institutions.
