Intellectual property and Squarespace

Steps to take if you believe materials on a Squarespace site violate your intellectual property.

Last updated November 18, 2024

Squarespace respects intellectual property rights and expects its customers to do the same.

Squarespace responds expeditiously to claims of copyright infringement committed while using the Services. In accordance with applicable law (including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA,” 17 U.S.C. §512)), if you believe, in good faith, that materials appearing on a site infringe your copyright, you may complete the Copyright Report Form to request that the material be removed or access to it blocked.

Please be aware that in instances where Squarespace is merely the Registrar and does not provide web hosting services, Squarespace does not control the content and the content does not reside on Squarespace’s servers; you will need to resolve the claimed copyright infringement directly with the site owner or the web hosting service provider.

Squarespace’s response to notices of alleged infringement may include the removal or restriction of access to allegedly infringing material. In appropriate circumstances, customers who are found to be repeat infringers will have the applicable website(s) and/or their accounts terminated.

Please note that information provided in a notice of infringement may be forwarded to the customer who posted the allegedly infringing content, or the site owner.
