You can register or connect domains ending in .nz and .co.nz to Squarespace. These domains are a great option if you have a business or professional presence in New Zealand.

Accessing this feature

It’s not possible to transfer .co.nz and .nz domains to Squarespace at this time.

The .nz and .co.nz country code top-level domain (ccTLD) follows different rules than most other TLDs we offer. This guide covers certain special requirements and exceptions from Squarespace and the relevant organization that oversees .nz and .co.nz domain registration. To learn more about these requirements and exceptions, visit TLD registry policies.

To find a domain's price, you can search for it on our domain name search page or your domains dashboard.

TLD features

Browse the table below to learn about the unique features and rules of registering a domain ending in .nz and .co.nz . If you connect a .nz or .co.nz domain to your site from a third-party provider, these guidelines don’t apply.

Feature Rules
Domain locking

Domains can't be locked.

Expired domains

If your domain expires, your next steps depend on who your registrar is:

Tucows: When these domains expire, you have a 45-day expiration grace period to renew with us. If these domains expire, we can’t renew them for you. These expired domains return to their registrar, Tucows. You then have a 90-day redemption period to contact Tucows and request a renewal.

Key-Systems: You have about 30 days after the domain’s expiration date to renew. Once the domain no longer appears on your account dashboard, the option to restore is not available. If your domain can’t be renewed, contact us to confirm if the domain can be reactivated.

Five-day registration grace period

There’s no five-day grace period to cancel these domains and no refunds.

Before registering the domain, ensure you want to keep it. Double-check the domain for typos.

Free domain offer These domains aren't eligible for the free domain offer.
Whois privacy

Only individuals can enable Whois privacy on their .nz and .co.nz domains. We'll consider the registrant an individual if the Organization field is left blank at registration.

If the registrant enters data into the Organization field when registering the domain, we'll consider them an organization and their information will appear in a Whois lookup. It's not possible for organizations to enable Whois privacy on their .nz and .co.nz domains.
