How Squarespace organizes products
Generally, products in Squarespace stores are organized in a two-part hierarchy: Products Pages and then product item pages.
Products Pages
Products Pages are browsable collections of products. The page includes key details about each product, usually the title, price, and if it's sold out. Clicking on a specific product opens its item page for additional details.
You can have multiple Product Pages on your site. All stores have Products Pages, and their designs and style tweaks vary by template.
Tip: Certain templates include Product Quick View to display additional details without leaving the Products Page.
Product item pages
Every product in a Products Page has its own item page with details about it, including additional images, variant drop-down menus, and an Add to Cart button. Product item pages are sub-pages of a Products Page.
Note: Gift cards display a Purchase button that leads directly to checkout instead of an Add to Cart button.
Step 1 - Add a Products Page
Para agregar una Página de productos:
- In the Home Menu, click Pages.
Step 2 - Add a product
- In the Home Menu, click Pages.
- Click the Add Product button.
Step 3 - Select the product type
Select a Product type from the Select Product Type window. It isn't possible to switch product types after creating a product.
Digital | Ebooks, audio files, and any other digital downloads you sell. When a customer purchases a digital product, they're sent a download link that's active for 24 hours after the link is first clicked. |
Gift Card | Gift cards are unique digital codes that recipients can use as payment in your online store. |
Step 4 - Edit the product information
From the Item tab, use the Name, Image, and Description fields to add information for your product.
Note: Product names must be 200 characters or fewer.
Click the Upload images arrow in the image field or drag and drop images from a folder on your computer to add images for the product.
You can add up to 250 images for each product. We recommend keeping the combined size of all images for each product under 5 MB.
Multiple images display as thumbnails on the product item view. To learn more, visit Product images.
Tip: You can hover over an image and click theto add alt text.
Step 5 - Add tags and categories
Click the Tags or Categories link to organize your products with tags and categories.
After adding categories to products, the categories create automatic navigation on your Products Pages. The style of this navigation varies by template. To learn more, visit Organizing products.
Note: Categories must be 25 characters or fewer. Tags must be 80 characters or fewer.
Step 6 - Edit pricing, variants, and upload digital products
Physical & service products
Select Pricing & Variants to define attributes for your product.
You can define each of the following options.
SKU | This is the inventory identifier for your product. Squarespace creates one automatically, but you can change it to a SKU that matches your inventory format. SKUs have a 20 character limit. A single product can have up to 100 SKUs. |
Stock | Define the number of units available with an option to set an Unlimited stock value. |
Note: Services don't have a physical weight or dimension and don't require the Weight and Dimensions fields.
Dimensions
Dimensions affect shipping prices if you use Carrier Calculated Rates via USPS. To learn more, visit Using carrier-calculated rates via USPS.
Variants
Digital
For Digital products, use the Pricing & Upload tab to set a price and upload your file. To learn more about requirements for digital files, visit Digital products.
Note: The file size limit for digital products is 300 MB.
You can set the price of the product, and set a sale price if you wish to offer one.
- Price - This defines the normal price for your product.
- On Sale - Check this box to set the product as On Sale.
- Sale Price - When you check the On Sale checkbox, the product will be listed with this sale price instead of the normal price.
Paso 8: Guarda
Click the Save & Publish button to publish the product to your Products Page. This sets the product as available for purchase.
Tip: To schedule the product to publish to your live store later, click Save (not Save & Publish). To learn more, visit Scheduling products.
Style the Products Page
- Click any area of the page in the preview to display only the style tweaks available for that area and hide the rest.
- If you have multiple Products Pages, style changes will apply to all of them to create a consistent look.
- Your template may support additional features, such as banner images or page headers, that affect how the Products Page looks.
Products Page styles fall into one of three categories, depending on the template:
- Classic - The original Products Page
- Advanced - Includes more features like Image Zoom, Quick View, and advanced hover options
- Unique - Supports template-specific Commerce features
Shopping cart
The shopping cart button shows the number of items in a customer's cart, lets customers view their cart, and leads to the checkout page.
When a customer adds a product to their cart, they'll see the shopping cart button appear. Some templates, like the Brine family, display the shopping cart button when the cart is empty.
You can style the cart in some templates.
Additional options
Beyond the basics, there are additional options so you can customize the products in your store.
Add additional information
Click the Additional Info tab to add more details to the product's page using blocks. To learn more, visit Adding additional information to products.
Create a custom product form
You can create custom forms for customers to complete before they can add a product to their cart. For help with this, visit Creating a custom product form.
Add a thumbnail
The first product image you add is set as the thumbnail image by default. You can click the Options tab to change the thumbnail image. The thumbnail image represents your product in Product Blocks, Summary Blocks, and when you share the product on social media.
Set product URL
The Product URL provides a direct link to the product. The Product URL will match the product name if no custom URL is specified.
Note: The Product URL must be between 3 and 250 characters.
Create a custom button
Products display an Add to Cart button by default. You can change this text in the Options tab by checking Use Custom Add Button Label and entering new text.
If you enable Use Custom Add Button Label and don't enter new text, a blank button will display.
Set as a featured product

To enable this, in the Options tab, check Featured Product. Then visit Summary Block overview for detailed instructions.
Spread the word about your products by pushing them to social networks. Click the Social tab to set up the social options. Toggling your social services on will automatically push the product to the selected social networks when you publish the product.
Tip: You can add a Share Button to let your customers share your Products on Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Twitter, Reddit, Pinterest, and more. For help with this, visit Adding share buttons.
Duplicate the product
You can duplicate a physical or service product to quickly create and customize a new, similar product. Click Duplicate at the bottom of the Edit Product window to create a copy. To learn more, visit Duplicating products.
