Offering recurring appointments in Scheduling

Your clients can schedule more than one appointment during booking after you enable recurring appointments. With this account-wide setting, your clients can schedule repeating appointments, or pick several appointment slots individually. This guide explains how to turn the setting on and off, and how clients and Scheduling users book recurring appointments.

Note: It’s not possible to use the recurring appointment feature to book different appointment types in the same transaction.

Enable or disable recurring appointments

This setting is enabled by default. To change the setting:

  1. In Scheduling, click Customize appearance, then click Scheduling page options.
  2. Check or uncheck the box for Disable Recurring Appointments, then click Save Changes.

How appointments repeat

During the booking process, Scheduling users and clients are given the option to choose how appointments repeat. Choose from these options:

  • Every week, on the same day of the week
  • Every other week, on the same day of the week
  • Every three weeks, on the same day of the week
  • Every four weeks, on the same day of the week
  • Every month, on the same date
  • Every month, on the same day (for example, the third Wednesday of every month)
  • Daily

How clients book recurring appointments

Clients book as normal until it’s time to select an appointment start time. When they click a time, three options appear: Continue, which continues the normal booking process, Add a time, and Recurring.

Add a time

Add a time saves the selected time and displays it above the list of available times, so the client can choose another appointment time. When the client clicks Continue, they’re taken to checkout, where they enter details and pay (if the option is enabled) for all of their appointments.

Recurring

Recurring loads the menu for repeating appointments. The client chooses the frequency they want for the appointments and how many times they repeat. Next, the client clicks Add recurring times. Scheduling saves the repeating appointments and displays them above the list of available times. The client can choose more appointments, or click Continue.

When the client clicks Continue they’re taken to checkout, where they enter details and pay (if the option is enabled) for all of their appointments.

If clients select times that are outside your availability or conflict with other appointments, Scheduling shows them in red and struck out. When the client completes the booking process, those appointments aren’t included.

Book recurring appointments for clients

  1. Book the appointment as normal, but after entering the time, click Recurring.
  2. If you want a regularly repeating appointment, choose a pattern for repeating appointments, then choose the number of times the appointment should repeat and click Add times. To add another individually selected start time, click Choose additional time, then enter another date and time.
  3. Click Schedule appointment or Schedule, but don’t send confirmation email.

If you select times that are outside your availability or conflict with other appointments, Scheduling shows them in red. If you don’t remove them, Scheduling still allows you to book them.
