Squarespace charges taxes on specific products in certain regions. Learn about how taxes are applied to Squarespace subscriptions based on supported countries and how to request an exemption where applicable. 

How taxes are applied to your Squarespace subscriptions

United States

If you’re in the US, sales tax applies to subscriptions depending on tax requirements in select cities and states. You can review the taxes applied to your subscriptions in your billing invoices.

Canada

If you’re in Canada, federal and provincial taxes are applied to eligible subscriptions. Depending on your billing location, GST/HST and QST/PST may also apply to your subscriptions. 

EU, United Kingdom, and other countries

If you’re located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or other countries, Value-Added Tax (VAT) may be charged at the local standard rate, or at 0% if you’re a VAT-registered business based on your billing location.

Australia, India, New Zealand, Singapore, and Japan

If you’re in Australia, India, New Zealand, or Singapore, Goods & Services Tax (GST) will be applied with rates varying by country. If you’re in Japan, Japanese Consumption Tax (JCT) will be applied to your subscriptions when applicable.

We determine your tax location ‌by the billing address you provide with your payment method. Prices listed on our pricing page don’t include tax. You’ll find your total charge and a tax breakdown before checkout and on your invoices.
