Setting time zones in Scheduling

Set or change your time zone in Scheduling so that synced events and notifications will have the correct information. You can optionally require clients to pick their time zone as well (such as for remote appointments), and Scheduling will translate the time so that you and your client simultaneously see appointment times in your own timezones.

To set your Scheduling time zone:

  1. In the Home menu, click Scheduling, then click Customize Appearance.
  2. Use the Time Zone drop-down menu to choose your timezone.
  3. Optionally check the box to require clients to enter their time zone when booking.
  4. Click Save Changes.
Users on the Powerhouse plan can set different time zones for each calendar. Other users have one time zone for all calendars.

If clients aren't required to enter a time zone, all available times on your scheduling page will be listed in your time zone.

If clients are required to enter a time zone, Scheduling converts all times in the scheduler and in client notifications to their time zone.

Scheduling will ask them to select their time zone after they choose an appointment type and before they see available times. Scheduling will try to detect which time zone they're in. They can either click Set time zone or use the drop-down menu to choose the correct zone.

Notifications sent to staff are in the business time zone, regardless of what the client selects.

A client can't edit their time zone after booking an appointment. If they need to change the time zone, they should cancel the existing appointment and schedule a new one.

Users on the Powerhouse plan can set different time zones for each calendar. Other users have one time zone for all calendars.

Daylight saving time in Scheduling

Scheduling automatically accounts for daylight saving time. Don’t manually change appointment times to account for daylight saving shifts. When clients book before a time change for an appointment after the time change, Scheduling automatically accounts for the shift.

If you think Scheduling has made a daylight saving time-related mistake:

  • Check that your client is in a jurisdiction that uses daylight saving time. In the United States, daylight saving time isn’t observed in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, or Arizona outside of the Navajo Nation. Globally, many nations don't use daylight saving time or use it only in some areas.
  • Check that your time zone is set correctly using the instructions in this guide. If you have multiple calendars, check that all of them are set to your time zone.
  • Check that your client's time zone is set correctly by clicking the appointment to open the appointment details. If the client made a mistake during booking, cancel the appointment and rebook. It's not possible to update the client's time zone.
  • If you're viewing the appointment in a third-party calendar app that syncs with Scheduling, check the time zone settings on the calendar app.
