Important information about paying for and managing your Digital Products plan.

The Digital Products plan is a standalone legacy subscription that lowers the digital product transaction fees and video storage limits for customers on the Personal, Business, or Commerce website plans. 

If you’re on the Basic, Core, Plus, or Advanced plan, you can’t sign up for a Digital Products plan. Instead, upgrade your website plan to lower your transaction fees and increase video storage.

To learn the current pricing for our Digital Products plans:

1. Open the Content and Memberships panel.
2. In the side panel, click Products for a list of all your pricing plans. Prices will only appear if you have a paid website subscription.
3. Click Upgrade to review your Digital Products plan options.

Higher plans have lower transaction fees and more video storage.

Is there a limit to the number of visitors who can buy my Digital Products?

No. Regardless of your Digital Products or website pricing plan, there’s no limit to the number of visitors who can purchase access to your Digital Products.

What commerce features are included with the Digital Products plan?

Regardless of the website plan you’re on, signing up for a separate Digital Products plan will give you access to these Squarespace Commerce features:

• Checkout on your domain - When visitors are ready to make a purchase, they'll be directed to a secure checkout page on your site's custom domain, ensuring consistent security and branding for your site experience.
• Customer accounts - After your visitors sign up for a plan, they'll log into their password-protected accounts to access your digital products. Visitors can securely save payment methods, shipping addresses, shopping carts, and order information in their customer accounts, making for a faster checkout experience in the future.
• Custom tax rules - Create tax rules based on the billing postal code associated with a customer’s payment method. This calculates the tax rate they pay in addition to the pricing plan price.
• Promotional discounts - Encourage sign ups by offering discounts on your digital products. You can customize each discount's name, promotion type, how it's applied, and when it begins and ends. 

Sign up for a Digital Products plan

If you’re on a legacy Personal, Business, or Commerce website plan, you can sign up for a separate Digital Products plan. You won’t see this option if you’re on the Basic, Core, Plus, or Advanced plans. When you sign up for a Digital Products plan, we charge the same card you use to pay for your website billing plan. To sign up for a Digital Products plan:

1. Open the Content and Memberships panel.
2. In the side panel, click Products for a list of all your pricing plans.
3. Click Select plan at the bottom of the Content and Memberships panel.
4. If your site is on a free trial, you'll choose a website plan first. Choose either a Monthly or Annual billing cycle, then select the website plan you want for your site. If you have an offer code, you can enter it during this step.
5. In the Digital Products plan panel, click either a Monthly or Annual billing cycle.
6. Select the Digital Products plan that fits your needs.
7. If prompted, enter your payment information, then click Save and continue.
8. Click Confirm and purchase.

Note: If you subscribe to a Commerce plan and already use PayPal as a payment processor, a warning message may appear at checkout regarding PayPal. If this message appears, reset your PayPal connection to continue offering PayPal at checkout.

View and manage your Digital Products plan

After you sign up for the plan, you can review your Digital Product plan details and invoices, disable auto-renew, or cancel your plan immediately. 

1. Open the Billing panel.
2. Under Subscriptions, click Digital Products.

Change your Digital Products plan

Changing your plan will affect your transaction fees and video storage limits. When you change your plan, you may be charged the prorated difference. Follow these steps to change your Digital Products billing plan:

1. If your payment is past due, update your card on file.
2. Open the Billing panel.
3. Under Subscriptions, click Digital Products or Subscriptions.
4. Beside the name of your current billing plan, click Change.
5. Choose a plan and billing cycle.
6. Review the plan change details, including any charges.
7. Click Confirm and Purchase

When downgrades take effect

If you downgrade your plan, you’ll keep your current plan’s transaction fees and video storage limits until the end of your current billing cycle. You’ll be charged your new plan’s pricing at the start of your new billing cycle. Your billing cycle and renewal date won’t change.

When upgrades take effect

If you upgrade your plan, you’ll be charged the prorated difference between the two plans based on the remaining time in your billing cycle. You’ll immediately switch to your new plan’s transaction fees and video storage limits. Your billing cycle and renewal date won’t change.

Change your billing cycle

When you change your billing cycle, you may be charged the prorated difference. To switch to annual or monthly billing:

1. Open the Billing panel.
2. Under Subscriptions, click Digital Products or Subscriptions.
3. Beside your current billing cycle (Pay monthly or Pay annually), click Change.
4. Click Annually or Monthly.
5. Click Confirm cycle change.

When we'll charge you next if you switched to monthly billing

If you switch from annual to monthly billing, you’ll start a new billing cycle. You won’t be charged your new plan’s pricing until the start of your new monthly billing cycle.

When we'll charge you next if you switched to annual billing

If you switch from monthly to annual billing, you’ll start a new billing cycle. You’ll be charged immediately for your new billing cycle. The invoice will be a prorated charge based on the cost of the unused time from the month subtracted from the cost of the annual plan.

Change both your plan and your billing cycle

To change your plan and billing cycle, change your plan first, and then return to the Billing panel to change your billing cycle. You can't change your plan and billing cycle at the same time.

What card is charged for subscription renewals?

We charge the same card for all payments to Squarespace. To change this card before changing your billing plan, first update the card on file in the Billing panel of your website, then follow the steps in this guide.

What happens if a Digital Products plan renewal fails

If we can’t authorize the renewal charge, your Digital Products plan will be past due. We’ll try to charge the payment method on file over the next 15 days. You can update your payment method at any time during this grace period to manually prompt a charge.

If we still can’t charge your payment method after 15 days, your Digital Product plan will expire. If your website plan is still active, your transaction fees will increase to 9% and your video storage limit for newly uploaded videos will decrease to 30 minutes.

As long as your website plan remains active, you can resubscribe to Digital Products to lower your transaction fees and increase your video storage limit.

Can I move a Digital Products plan to a different site?

No. You can't move a Digital Products billing plan to a different site.

Why can’t I sign up for a Digital Products plan?

Digital Products plans are only available to customers on a legacy Personal, Business, or Commerce website plan. The Digital Products plan was created for customers on those plans as a way to lower their transaction fees and increase their video storage limits. If you’re on one of our current website plans (Basic, Core, Plus, or Advanced), you don’t need a separate Digital Products plan. Instead, you can lower transaction fees and increase your video storage limit by upgrading your website subscription.
