Using the Skye template family

Skye, Foundry, Indigo, Ready, and Tudor are in the same template family. This means they share the same underlying structure and functionality. The directions in the Skye guides apply to all these templates.

See the left navigation for information about building and customizing specific parts of your site. If you haven't yet picked a template, you can get help with initial installation at Getting started with Squarespace.

Note: Visit the Live Preview page for SkyeFoundry, Indigo, Ready, and Tudor for examples of real customer sites using these templates. If you've already created a site, you can switch your template at any time.

Designed for bloggers, magazines, and news sites, Skye, Foundry, Indigo, Ready, and Tudor feature multiple striking layout options and special features, helping you highlight your content and share it with the world.

Sophisticated Blog Page

The blog landing page features a customizable grid of thumbnail image tiles, each linking to a different blog post. This grid acts as visual navigation, allowing visitors to browse through all your posts in one place.

You can remove the thumbnail images for a more text-focused look:

And adjust the grid layout to a mosaic style:

Related Posts

A trio of Related Posts at the bottom of each blog post encourages readers to delve deeper into your content.

Author profiles

More than just a byline, blog post author profiles celebrate the minds behind the content.

Interactive post navigation

Special navigation arrows on blog posts help your visitors to explore, while a progress pie indicator shows how far they’ve come.

Navigation overlay

The navigation icon opens a customizable overlay that supports links, text, images, and more.

Commerce features

Highlight your merchandise with special commerce features like Quick View, Product Image Zoom, and on-hover effects.

Quick start

Certain tweaks and settings can make a big impact on how your site looks and behaves. Play with the following options until you settle on a design you love.

To open any panel, press the ? key and search for its name. 


Open the Site Styles panel. These are some key tweaks that affect the whole site:

  • Site > Site Background
  • Site-Wide Fonts and Site-Wide Text Colors
  • Site Branding > Layout and Borders (not available for logos)
  • Site Navigation > Hide Right Column (affects the navigation overlay)

Outside Site Styles, click the hamburger navigation icon, then hover over the demo content and click Edit to add your own content.

You can also add a logo image in the Home Menu by clicking Design, then Settings, then Logo & Title.

Blog Page

First, create a Blog Page and add a few blog posts. Give some of them thumbnail images, and leave others without thumbnails. Then go to your Blog Page and open Site Styles. Here are some key tweaks:

  • Site-Wide Fonts > List Title and List Title Min
  • Blog Grid Layout > Grid Alignment
  • Blog Grid Layout > Image Cropping
  • Blog Grid Options > Overlay Color, Reverse Overlay, and Grayscale Images
  • Blog Grid Options > Card Style and Card Background Color
  • Blog Options > Date Style

Outside Site Styles, open Blog Page settings to determine how many posts load at a time.

Blog posts

While on any blog post, open Site Styles. Here are some key tweaks:

  • Site-Wide Fonts > Item Title and Item Title Min
  • Blog Post Options > Show Banner Image and Banner Image Width
  • Blog Post Options > Author Profile
  • Blog Options > Promoted Meta
  • Share Buttons > Style

Outside Site Styles, hover over the sidebar and click Edit to customize your sidebar’s content. You can also enable Related Posts in the Advanced tab of page settings, and add comments by going to Home Menu and clicking Settings, Blogging, and Comments Settings.
