Order email header and footer

You can create a custom header and footer template for your Order emails. Editing these areas is a great way to add a personal touch to the notifications customers receive about their purchases and match all communication from your store to your brand.

Your business information automatically populates below the custom footer. This text helps build credibility with customers and spam filters.

This guide explains how to customize and review your email header and footer.

Step 1 - Go to Notifications

In the Home Menu, click Settings, and then click Notifications.

Step 2 - Edit the header and footer

Under Customize Email Template, click Header and Footer.

In the Header and Footer fields, you can create your content using text, HTML, and JSON variables. For example, you might want to include a link to your policies or FAQs in the footer.

You can use these variables to automatically populate information about your store:

  • {website.siteTitle} - The title of your site.
  • {website.baseUrl} - The URL of your primary domain.

As you make changes to the header and footer, a preview email populates to the right. When you're finished making changes, click Save.

Step 3 - Edit your business name and address

Your business name and business address appears as part of the footer. You can edit these in Business Information Settings.

Restore to defaults

To reset the changes you've made to the header and footer fields, scroll down to the bottom of the panel and click Restore Defaults. Use caution, as this process can't be reversed.

Add logo to header or footer (advanced)

It may be possible to add a logo to your email's header or footer using custom code. Given the advanced nature of this modification, you should be comfortable with adding and troubleshooting your own code before attempting this.

This topic has come up on our Answers forum, our customer and developer forum, and you can view the post here for more information and example code.

Note: Custom code modifications fall outside the scope of our support. This means that we’re unable to help further with setup or troubleshooting. Additionally, with a code-based solution, we can’t guarantee its functionality or full compatibility with Squarespace. This includes how it functions with our responsive design, particularly its appearance on mobile devices, and if it functions on all templates. Custom code can also cause display issues with future updates to our platform. While we can't help further, there are many resources that can point you in the right direction:
