Automatically remind customers who left items in their cart to return to your site and check out.

Turn on the abandoned cart recovery email, to automatically send a reminder email to a customer 24 hours after they add products to their cart and leave before checking out. Customers can unsubscribe from future reminders.

You can customize the email's subject, message, header, and footer, and the Reply-to and From addresses. The email includes a Complete Your Order button linking to a Review Cart page.

Abandoned checkout recovery is available on the Basic, Core, Plus, and Advanced plans, and some legacy plans. Learn more about choosing the right Squarespace plan.

Who gets an abandoned checkout email?

Customers signed in to a customer account get the email whenever they abandon a cart with at least one in-stock product.

Everyone else gets the email only when all of these are true:

• They entered an email address in the first checkout field
• They closed the checkout page without buying
• At least one product in the cart is in stock

We don't send the email when:

• The customer returns in the same browser and completes the order before the 24 hours are up
• The cart holds subscription products
• The cart holds paywall products

We store only the email address from that first checkout field—no name, no card details. A customer who returns to their cart re-enters everything else.
