Hiding a blog post's author and publication date

Some templates allow you to hide parts of your blog posts. To keep a blog anonymous, or if you prefer a cleaner design, you can hide the author from each post. You can also hide a blog post date in the Five template or by using Summary Blocks. This is a good option if you use your Blog Page for general information rather than time-sensitive news.

To get started with a Blog Page, first visit Blogging with Squarespace.

Using Summary Blocks to hide authors or dates

On templates whose Blog Page doesn't support hiding the author name or publication date, you can create an alternate blog landing page using a Summary Block, which pulls information from your Blog Page.

First, add a new Regular Page to your navigation.

Add a Summary Block in your preferred display (Wall, Carousel, List, or Grid). In the Content tab, choose the Blog you’d like to display.

Choose how you want the posts to appear in the Layout tab.

In the Display tab, set Primary Metadata and Secondary Metadata to any option except Date Posted (to hide the date) or Author (to hide author name).

For more help, visit Summary Blocks overview.

To use this new page as a replacement for your main Blog Page, move your Blog Page to the Not Linked section to hide it from the main navigation.

Using custom code

You can apply custom code to hide the author name or the publication date, but note that adding code to your site is an advanced modification. While we can’t offer help with custom code, there are many resources available that can point you in the right direction:
