Squarespace Note is an app for capturing your thoughts on the go. Type and send via email, or sync with a range of popular services including Squarespace, Evernote, Dropbox, and Google Drive.

Getting started

Do I need a Squarespace site to use the app?

No. The Squarespace Note app is completely free for everyone.

Can I use Note offline?

Yes. You can write notes without an internet connection and send them to a connected service later.

Where can I send notes?

Squarespace Note can send notes to:

  • Squarespace
  • Email
  • Dropbox
  • Evernote
  • Google Drive
Note: If you already have an active Google account on your device, Google Drive will usually generate 2-Step Verification when you connect it to Note.

What OS versions and devices are compatible with the app?

The Squarespace Note app works for Android 4.0 and up.

Setup

When you first open Note, an on-screen tutorial will walk you through some of the app functions and will leave you at the Note Editor.

Connect Note to services

You can send notes to your Squarespace site, email accounts, productivity tools, and file storage services. You can connect to multiple services and even multiple email addresses.

  1. Swipe left.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-right corner. If this is the first service you’re connecting, you won’t see this option.
  3. Tap Add Service.
  4. Select Squarespace, Email, Dropbox, Evernote, or Google Drive.
  5. Follow the steps for each service. For specific instructions, see the sections below.
  6. Repeat for every service where you want to send notes. After you’ve connected at least one service, tap the pencil icon to go to the Account Setup screen and then tap Add Service.

Connect Note to a Squarespace site

Send notes to a Blog Page on your Squarespace site and set the note to publish or save as a draft.

Note: Squarespace Note isn't compatible with Squarespace 5 sites.

Connect

  1. Swipe left.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Add Service.
  4. Select Squarespace.
  5. Enter the email address and password you use to log into your Squarespace site.
  6. Tap the checkmark in the top-right corner.
  7. Select the site you’d like to connect to by tapping the site name.

Customize options

Review the following options to customize how notes will appear in your site, and tap the checkmark in the top-right corner to confirm the connection.

Send by Default Toggle on to always send notes to your Squarespace site.
Publish To Choose the Blog Page where you want notes to appear.
Post Type Choose to have sent notes save as Drafts or Published posts.
Image Size Set your image size to appear as Original, Large, Medium, or Small.

Connect note to an Email Address

Sent notes appear as a separate email per note, formatted based on the settings you specify.

Connect

  1. Swipe left.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Add Service.
  4. Select Email.
  5. Enter the name of the recipient (optional) and the email address where notes will be sent.
  6. Tap the checkmark in the top-right of the screen.

Customize options

Review the following options to customize how emailed notes appear, and tap the checkmark in the top-right corner to confirm the connection.

Send by Default Toggle on to always send notes to your email address.
Send Location Toggle on to include the location information from your device with the note.
From Address Set to Default (notes@squarespace.info) or Unique (a specific email address for your account).
Subject Line Customize the subject line of sent notes. Include an Excerpt of the note, the Entire Note, or None of the note. You can also include a Custom Prefix at the start of the subject line.
Email Body Choose if the email body will include the Entire Note or None of the note.
Image Size Set attached images to appear as Original, Large, Medium, or Small.

Connect Note to Dropbox

Sent notes appear as a .txt files in the Apps > Squarespace Note folder in Dropbox.

Connect

  1. Swipe left.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Add Service.
  4. Select Dropbox.
  5. Enter the email address and password you use to log into your Dropbox account.
  6. Tap Sign in and Link.
  7. Tap Allow to agree to the connection.

Customize options

Review the following options to customize how notes appear in Dropbox, and tap the checkmark in the top-right corner to confirm the connection.

Send by Default Toggle on to always send notes to your Dropbox account.
Send Location Toggle on to include location information from your device with the note.
Filename Date Toggle on to include the date in the note's filename.
Append Date Toggle on to add the date the note was sent in the file.
Image Size Set attached images to appear as Original, Large, Medium, or Small.

Connect Note to Evernote

Sent notes to an Evernote Notebook of your choice.

Connect

  1. Swipe left.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Add Service.
  4. Select Evernote.
  5. Enter your Evernote username and password.
  6. Tap Sign In.
  7. From the drop-down, choose how long to authorize Squarespace Note to access your Evernote account. Select For 1 yearFor 30 daysFor 1 week, or For 1 day. Tap Authorize to approve.

Customize options

Review the following options to customize how notes appear in Evernote, and then tap the checkmark in the top-right corner to confirm the connection:

Send by Default Toggle on to always send notes to your Evernote account.
Notebook Select the Notebook where notes will be sent.
Custom Title Set note titles to display as a Custom Title, an Excerpt of your note, or the Entire Note.
Image Size Set attached images to appear as Original, Large, Medium, or Small.

Connect Note to Google Drive

Sent notes appear as separate .txt files in a Squarespace Notes folder in Google Drive.

Connect

  1. Swipe left.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Add Service.
  4. Select Google Drive.
  5. If you have an Google account connected to your device, select it from the Choose an account list. If not, select Add account and tap OK. You’ll then be prompted to add an existing Google Drive account or create a new one.
  6. After you’ve selected the correct account, tap OK to approve the connection.
  7. Tap Accept to allow the app to connect to Google.

Customize options

Review the following options to customize how notes appear in Google Drive, and then tap the checkmark in the top-right corner to confirm the connection:

Send by Default Toggle on to always send notes to Google Drive.
Send Location Toggle on to include the location information from your device with the note once it’s sent.
Filename Date Toggle on to include the date in notes' filenames
Append Date Toggle on to add the date the note was sent in the file.
Image Size Set images to appear as Original, Large, Medium, or Small.

Permanently remove a connected service

  1. Swipe left.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
  3. Select the service.
  4. Scroll down and tap Remove Account.
  5. Click Confirm.

Temporarily stop notes from sending to a service

  1. Swipe left.
  2. Uncheck a service. The empty circle signifies that the current note will not be sent to that account.

Changing what appears from sent notes

  1. Swipe left.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
  3. Select the service you’d like to edit.
  4. Tap any setting to edit.

Change the theme to light or dark

Shake your device to switch to and from Night Mode.

Write and send a note

Note opens with blank note or your most recently edited note. To edit the note, just add text. The app supports plain text only.

Attach an image

You can attach one image to a note.

  1. Tap the camera icon in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Take a new photo or tap the camera roll preview in the bottom-right corner to select an existing photo.
  3. To remove the photo from the note, tap the X on the image.

Save a note for later

To save a note you’re writing for later, close the app. The note will be waiting for you when you reopen the app. It isn’t possible to save multiple notes in progress before sending.

Send a note to a connected service

When you’ve finished typing your note, push up or pull down and then release to send. The note will send to all checked connected services. A new blank note will appear.

Here's how sent notes appear for each connected service:

  • Notes sent to Squarespace appear on your connected Blog Page as a Draft post.
  • Notes sent to email appear as a separate email per note, formatted based on your specified settings.
  • Notes sent to Dropbox appear as a .txt files in the Apps > Squarespace Note folder.
  • Notes sent to Evernote appear in the Notebook you specified.
  • Notes sent to Google Drive appear as separate .txt files in a Squarespace Notes folder.

Review and edit sent notes

It’s not possible to view your note archive on the Android app. To view your previous notes, access them on one of your connected services.

Delete a note

It’s not possible to delete sent notes from the Android app. Instead, you can access and delete notes directly from one of your connected services.
