Using YouTube with Squarespace

You can connect your YouTube account to your Squarespace site. This adds a social icon to link to your YouTube profile page. You can also add YouTube videos to your site with the Video Block or as a Cover Page background video.

Note: If you don’t have a YouTube account, sign up here.

Step 1 - Connect your YouTube account

In the Home Menu, click Settings, and then click Connected Accounts.

You can also press the ? key while any panel is open and search connected accounts.

Click Connect Account.

Scroll down and select YouTube from the Social Accounts menu, then log in using your YouTube username and password.

Step 2 - Display a YouTube social icon

You can add a YouTube Social Icon that links to your YouTube profile.

In Connected Accounts Settings, select your YouTube account to open YouTube Settings. Ensure Social Icon is checked.

Note: The Profile URL is automatically set to lead to your YouTube profile.

Note: After connecting YouTube to Squarespace in this step, the social icon will automatically display in most templates, but not all of them. You can also add social icons using the Social Links Block. Learn how these icons display in your template in our template guides.

Step 3 - Add a YouTube video to your site

You can display YouTube videos in Gallery Pages, Gallery Blocks, and in a Video Block on Regular Pages and blog posts. This is a great way to embed your videos on your site without using third-party widgets. For more information, visit Adding videos to your Squarespace site.

You can also use YouTube to add a background video to a Cover Page. This creates a looping visual background without sound, customizable with various filters and overlay effects.
