Stock level alert emails

Stock Level Alert Emails are internal notifications that inform you if stock of an item is running low. You can set the stock level that triggers this alert for all products in your store.

The email is sent to all contributors with Admin and Store Manager permissions. To learn more, visit Inviting contributors and managing permissions.

Step 1 - Go to Notifications

In the Home Menu, click Settings, then click Notifications.

Step 2 - Set the Stock Alert Level

Drag the slider to set the Stock Alert Level. When the quantity in stock for a product drops to this level, you'll receive a notification email.

Note: The maximum level is 20 items. This level applies to your entire inventory and can't be customized per-product at this time.

Click Save to set the alert.

Step 3 - Receive the email

When inventory for a product drops below the set level, all contributors with Admin and Store Manager permissions will receive the email.

The stock level notification email includes:

  • Site name
  • Product name
  • SKU (so you can see which variant is affected)

Step 4 - View and update inventory levels

When you're ready to replenish stock, go to the Inventory panel and edit each product.

Depending on your plan:

  • In the Home Menu, click Commerce, and then click Inventory.
  • In the Home Menu, click Inventory.

You can also press the ? key while any panel is open and search inventory.

In the Inventory panel, you can view stock levels for all products in the Stock column. For more information, visit Managing inventory.

Disable the email

To stop receiving Low Stock Emails, you can unsubscribe by setting the slider to 0. Note that by disabling the email, the only way to see when a product is running low is by manually checking inventory in the Commerce panel. For this reason, we recommend keeping the stock alert level at one or higher to ensure your products don't remain sold out. To disable the email:

  1. In the Home Menu, click Settings, then click Notifications.
  2. Drag the slider to set the Stock Alert Level all the way to the left until it reaches 0 items.
  3. Click Save.
