Use your Squarespace domain on a different Squarespace site.

To direct visitors to a new or rebranded site, move your Squarespace domain to that site. You can only move domains to paid sites.

You must be a site owner or have Administrator permissions on both sites. If the site you're moving to isn't on the same account as your domain, request to be added as a contributor to the site with Administrator permissions.

When you can't move a domain

It’s not possible to:

• Move an expired domain or a domain in a "past due" status.
• Move a Squarespace domain you registered through a reseller.
• Move your domain to a site on a mobile start plan. Switch your Mobile Start plan to a standard plan, then move your domain.
• Move a domain to an expired site. Reactivate the site and domain before you move your domain.
• Move Email Campaigns, Member Sites, or Scheduling subscriptions to a different site. If you have any of these add-on subscriptions on your old site, cancel and repurchase them on the new site.

Use the following steps to move your domain between Squarespace sites. Before you start the move, keep these key considerations in mind.

1. Open your domains dashboard.
2. Click your domain.
3. Scroll down to click Move domain.
4. Select the thumbnail image of the website you're moving the domain to.
5. If everything looks correct, click Confirm to complete the move.
6. Your domain should direct to the new site in 24 to 48 hours.

Move a parked domain to a site

To have your parked domain share the same billing and permission levels as your website, follow the same steps to move it.

To move a parked domain, you need to be the domain owner or the domain manager with billing permissions.

Cancel or downgrade the site you moved your domain from

After moving your domain, you may want to consider canceling the subscription or changing the billing plan on your other site. To view the last invoice you received before moving your domain, open the Billing panel of the original site and click Invoices.

Troubleshooting

Error: There are no eligible sites to transfer a domain to on this account

If this message appears after you click Move domain, you don’t have another eligible site on your account. Review the sites in your account dashboard, or switch from a Mobile Start plan to a standard plan, if needed, before moving the domain.

Error: Your domain can’t be moved because of an issue on our end

If this message appears, check the email address associated with your site. You'll receive more information and next steps in an email from customercare@squarespace.com with the subject "Error moving your domain." If you can't find this email, check your spam folder. If you still can’t find it, contact us and include the information in the More help section.

The site I want to move my domain to isn’t on my dashboard

If the site isn't on your dashboard, request to be added to the site as a contributor with Administrator permissions.
