Review your customers’ transactions, issue refunds, and view sales history.

Use the Finance panel to review transactions, issue refunds, manage payment disputes and chargebacks.

Review your transactions

How you review transactions depends on whether you're on a computer or in the Squarespace app.

Click or tap an individual transaction to see its payment, billing, and shipping details, along with order status, transaction history, and tracking details.

Payment details include:

• Card number
• Cardholder name
• Fees
• Method
• Net amount
• Total amount
• Type

You can also review order status, transaction history, and tracking details for refunded payments.

Note: It's not possible to export your Squarespace Payments transactions or payouts as .csv or .xls files.

Test orders

Test orders appear as successful transactions in the Payments tab while your store is in Test mode. A test flag will display at the top of the page. When your store is live, test orders won't display in the payment activity panel. Learn more about running test orders.

Issue full or partial refunds

You can issue a full or partial refund to your customers. If your Squarespace plan charges transaction fees, we refund you the transaction fee. Payment processing fees aren't refundable.

To refund a payment:

1. Open the Finance panel and click Orders.
2. Select the payment you want to refund.
3. Click Refund.
4. Enter the dollar amount you want to refund.
5. Click Issue Refund to confirm.

If you move your Squarespace Payments connection from one site to another, the site currently connected to Squarespace Payments processes and issues the refund.

To refund an order you took through a third-party payment processor, visit canceling and refunding commerce orders.

What happens if your balance can't cover a refund

Refunds come out of your Payments account balance, which is the total payments you've received that day. If your balance can't cover the refund, your balance goes negative. If later payments don't bring it back up, we debit your linked bank account. Negative balances have limits, so a low balance can stop you from issuing a refund. If a refund won't go through, contact us and include the order number and the refund amount.

Manage payment disputes and chargebacks

A chargeback happens when a customer disputes a charge with their bank. If a customer files a dispute for a purchase in your store, you're responsible for the disputed amount and any fees. You can sometimes recover the money by showing the customer's bank that the charge was legitimate. We'll email you when a dispute is filed, with the next steps for responding to it.
